Questions and Answers
  • Q: Our child is in French Immersion.  Can our child participate?
    • A: Yes.  The program is in English.  Your child will have to take a French Immersion online course in a later grade to make up for not taking the civics and careers in French.  Alternatively, your child can work toward the Extended French Immersion Certificate, which is based on seven courses in French.  See French Immersion at LKDSB - Lambton Kent District School Board.
  • Q: What are the sleeping accommodations?
    • A: The pricing for the trip is based on a room occupancy of four students to a room, which means two students to a bed.  An option to upgrade to two students to a room is available at the time of registration or later.
  • Q: Can specific roommates be requested?
    • A: Yes.  Overnight accommodations are based on having four students per room unless you have upgraded to two students to a room.  Rooming requests may be sent to credit@ef.com.  Please specify that this is for the LKDSB Summer 2025 Travel for Credit trip.
  • Q: What if my child has health or dietary concerns?
    • EF will be reaching out to all enrolled families in March 2025 to collect this information and discuss possible supports and accommodations.
  • Q: What are the pick-up and drop-off points for the trip?
    • A: Students at Chatham-Kent schools will be picked up and dropped off at Chatham Kent Secondary School.  Students at Sarnia-Lambton schools will be picked up and dropped off at Northern Collegiate.
  • Q: What is the price for the trip?
  • Q: Are there any early bird discounts?
    • A: Yes.  A $150 discount is available for registrations prior to November 16, and a $100 discount is available for registrations prior to December 1.
  • Q: How will the students be supervised?
    • A: There will be two teachers plus five parent chaperones.  Parents will have an opportunity to express interest in being a chaperone in the early Spring.  Chaperones will be interviewed, have a vulnerable sector police reference check, and have the recommendation of their home school.  In addition, security will be provided for each overnight stay.  Finally, an EF representative will be with the group throughout the tour.
  • Q: What travel documentation is required to enter the United States at a land crossing?
    • A: A passport is the best form of travel documentation.  However, Canadian Citizens age 15 years or younger, when crossing the border by land (between Canada and the US), can travel with Government issued ID in lieu of a passport.  Government issued ID can be the original copy of their Birth Certificate or a Canadian Citizenship Card.
    • Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) has been informed that U.S. border officials will accept any valid version of the secure status card and any valid version of the status card to cross the Canada–U.S. border at both land and marine ports of entry. Acceptance of those status cards is at the discretion of the U.S. government.
If your status card is no longer valid, you may have difficulty crossing the Canada–U.S. border. To find out which cards are currently valid, visit Is your status card valid.

  • Q: What are the expectations of the course work?
    • A: Students are expected to log in the course daily using Brightspace.  Students will require access to a desktop computer, laptop, or Chromebook as well as Internet access.  The course will be facilitated asynchronously.  That is, students can work on the course when it is convenient throughout the day.  Students will generally require four hours per day.
  • Q: Is Civics and Careers available this summer without the trip?
    • A: Yes, civics and careers will be available as (free) online learning courses from July 2-29. Both the English and French Immersion versions will be available.
