An important component to the success of the International Education Program is the placement of our international students in a secure, caring home with a Canadian family living in the area of the school board. We choose screened homes to ensure our students safety. We work with Canada Homestay Network (www.canadahomestaynetwork.ca) in a strong partnership to ensure that our students are placed in welcoming Canadian homes. The level of care that we provide for our international students is of utmost importance to us. We understand that it is a huge decision on the part of parents to send their son or daughter so far from home to study for a year or semester. The LKDSB and Canada Homestay Network will work together to guide students in their adjustment as they adapt to life in their new family and school. We will support students with their cultural adjustment, academic program, studies, and their social integration into the school. Students will be introduced to the local students and encourage them to join community and after school activities. They will have a traditional Canadian experience with us.
