Information regarding the Novel Coronavirus ‚Äď COVID-19

The Ontario Minister of Education has ordered that all Ontario schools remain closed to students until May 4, 2020, including Lambton Kent District School Board, in response to the emergence in Ontario of COVID-19. This closure extends from the recommendation from the Provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health and is made by Ministerial Order, which is permitted in the Education Act.‚Äč Read the province's announcement here.

This decision is a proactive measure by the Government of Ontario to support the health and well-being of Ontarians. The health and safety of our students and staff is a top priority for the LKDSB. The LKDSB has been closely monitoring information from local and provincial Medical Officers of Health and the Government of Canada. As with all health-related matters, the LKDSB continues to take direction from the local and provincial Medical Officers of Health and the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Notice: LKDSB Schools and Recreational Amenities Closed 

In accordance with Ontario Government Orders and the Lambton Kent District School Board‚Äôs efforts to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, all schools and recreational amenities are closed. Recreational amenities, including but not limited to playgrounds, sports fields, basketball & tennis courts, etc. Additionally, Board-owned asphalt areas are not to be used for outdoor recreational purposes, until further notice. This remains in effect during the Ontario Minister of Education ordered COVID-19 school closures. Please monitor the Board‚Äôs website for updates at www.lkdsb.net‚Äč.

Learn at Home Resources

Based on the expectations outlined by the Ministry of Education on March 31, LKDSB Senior Administration is working with Principals, educators and education workers to finalize plans for student learning at home beginning the week of April 6. Further detailed information for students and parents/guardians will be provided. 

Device access: For those who have WiFi Internet access at home, but do not have sufficient shared devices to complete school work, you are invited to complete an online order form to support your family needs. The LKDSB is committed to supporting the continuity of student learning and we recognize there may be some unique challenges to address. During these unprecedented times, it is our shared responsibility to support the success of all students.‚Äč

T‚Äčo support student learning at home, families can access resources through the Ministry of Education's Learn at Home online portal. These resources do not replace what students have been learning at school; however, the Kindergarten to Grade 12 online learning resources may support students' learning at home during the COVID-19 school closure period.‚Äč Additionally, teaching staff may use their online learning tools to support student learning from March 23-April 5; however, please note this is not required during this period and would not be part of any student assessment.‚Äč Additional resources curated by LKDSB staff are available here:
