General Information
  • Summer Semester online learning may be completed from home or any location within Ontario.
  • Access to the online learning course will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2. Courses will end on Monday, July 29 after which no further work may be submitted.
  • Students are expected to log in to their courses daily, Monday through Friday, and can expect four to six hours of course work per day.
  • Students who miss three consecutive days may be removed from the course.
  • Teachers will be available online for specific times during the day and their office hours will be posted.
  • Students will video conference within Brightspace with their teacher a minimum of two times throughout the course. Therefore, video conferencing technology (i.e. built in or external webcam and microphone) is required.
  • Online learning courses are set up as asynchronous learning (learning that is not in real time).  Students are not required to log into their courses at a specific time of the day.  However, teachers will engage with students on a regular basis.
  • Course activities will be opened up on a daily basis. As a result, students will not be able to work ahead and finish early.
  • Students are expected to demonstrate academic honesty by relying on their own efforts and by doing their own work to the best of their ability. Academic dishonesty is when work is submitted as the student's work but is not, in part or whole, the student's work. Academic dishonesty may result in a zero being assigned.
  • 30% of the student's final mark will be a final evaluation that will consist of 1. a conversation with the teacher, 2. a culminating activity or non-proctored exam.  Final exams will take place on the last day of the course, Monday, July 29.
