Today, the Ontario Minister of Education announced that schools will remain closed to students for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, all Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) schools will remain closed to students until the end of June.
The province's announcement may be found at this link.
As noted in the provincial government's media release, later this summer, the government will announce a plan to strengthen learning and safety protocols to enable students and staff to return to in-class instruction for the 2020-21 school year.
We understand that this announcement may require families to consider additional planning and considerations for the coming days and weeks. A plan for students to access personal belongings will be communicated shortly.
Based on the expectations outlined by the Ministry of Education, LKDSB Senior Administration is working with Principals, educators and education workers to continue the teacher-led, staff supported student learning for the remainder of the school year. We encourage families to stay connected to the school community. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact your school principal (note: school voicemails are checked regularly, and messages will be received by school administration).
With the continuation of remote learning, please note that students' final marks will not be disadvantaged by the COVID-19 school closures. In accordance to the Ministry of Education's directions, all LKDSB students on track to graduate will be supported to graduate.
For up-to-date COVID-19 information, Learn at Home resources, community supports and mental health resources and supports, visit the LKDSB website.
We appreciate the dedication and commitment of staff to supporting students' success. As partners in education, we remain focused on supporting students and families at this time.
Should you have any further questions, please contact your school.
