Lancers.pngNEW LCCVI LANCERS!

We have created a Google Classroom for you to provide you with some information about our school. If you have registered for LCCVI for September 2024 and want in on the fun, the Google Classroom Code is 7pjmrzs. (Please note that you must have a lkdsb.com email address to join the classroom).  We are excited for you to join the mighty Lancers!

Some Stuff You'll Need to Know:

  • LCCVI is located in School Bus Zones 1, 3, 4, 5 & 6 (see this link for maps and more bus info: https://cklass.ca/services/student-transportation/weather-zones/
  • LCCVI offers a Breakfast program for all students just outside the library before school and snacks throughout the day
  • Our cafeteria offers students a place to hang out, connect with friends, and eat great cafeteria food or bagged lunches from home.
  • You will hear daily announcements immediately following our anthem and a territorial acknowledgment in your Home Room class. You know the school day is about to begin when the 5-minute warning music begins to get you moving! During the announcements, you will hear important reminders, team or club updates, and fun activities happening around the school. If you miss something, there is an announcement board outside of the cafeteria.
  • You will have your locker assigned at registration or the first day of school. It's yours for the duration of your time at LCCVI and a lock is provided.

Registration

Students will learn more about registration as we progress through the next few months. Out-of-board students can pick up their registration package at our office. Once registered students will have their schedules emailed to them in late August.  This schedule will include their classes, locker number, and locker combination. The school will be open the week before the official first day of school for new students to find their classrooms and lockers.

Registration fees you may be asked to pay include:

  • Student Activity Fees

  • Phys Ed Uniforms

  • Yearbook

  • Course Fees (classroom consumables that vary by subject)

We use school cash online to accept registration fees, field trips, and other payments you may make to the school.  Closer to the start of school you can sign up for School Cash Online where you can pay any fees easily and conveniently at https://www.schoolcashonline.com/

Community Service Hours

Did you know that all students must complete 40 hours of community involvement to graduate?  Students are eligible to begin completing these hours as soon as they officially graduate from grade 8!  Consider using the summer before Grade 9 begins to find ways to volunteer in our community.  We have lots of community events and organizations that could use your help!  Click here to view the requirements and/or download a tracking form.

LCCVI Student Success Team

Our Student Success Team works with students, parents, and teachers to ensure that a plan is put in place for each student to work toward achieving their credits.  Student success strategies may include extra help sessions, alternative workspace, credit recover, or credit rescue initiatives. Students may be approached by members of this team during the course of the school year in order to provide extra support.  Many of the Student Success strategies are available to all students. Mrs. Majeski (marnie.majeski@lkdsb.net) has her Student Success classroom located in the library and is available to provide extra help to students. During the first week of school, members of the Student Success Team will visit grade 9 Home Room classes so you will get to know these people early on.

Student Resource Centre

The Resource Centre, facilitated by Mrs. Wilkinson, is open to students who require extra assistance in any subject area, or an alternative space to work.  Students with Individualized Education Plans will meet with the Resource Teacher to review and discuss their IEP, annually, or as requested by the student, the parent, or the teacher.  If you have any questions regarding an IEP, please contact coreen.wilkinson@lkdsb.net.

We have an amazing lineup of extra-curricular activities at LCCVI. There is something here for everyone! It is highly recommended that you get involved right from the start.  It will make your high school experience even more memorable and might actually improve your academic success since you will learn how to balance your school work with the fun extras while improving your time management skills!
