At WDSS 7/8 we take pride in our cooperative attitude, caring community and respect for diversity. Learning Resource Centre​​

 
Students with Individualized Education Plans will meet with the Resource Teacher, Mrs. Hazzard, to review and discuss their IEP, annually, or as requested by the student, the parent, or the teacher.  If you have any questions regarding an IEP, please contact.  Ojibwe Language Class


The Ojibwe Language class is offered to students in Grades 7 and 8 at WDSS.  This is a class that can be chosen by any student, even if they have not yet taken Ojibwe Language in school. Throughout the year the students who take Ojibwe are provided with opportunities to participate in events where they learn more about the Ojibwe culture. When students move on to Grade 9, Ojibwe Language is offered by Ms. Shognosh.   ​

Future Elders

The Future Elders is a group for students at WDSS who want to share their or learn more about First Nation cultures. 

The group gathers throughout the year to participate in First Nations cultural events.  They also fundraise for many groups in the Wallaceburg area and Walpole Island, including the WDSS Breakfast Club, the Walpole Island Residential School Survivors Group, the WDSS Booster Club, the Walpole Island Women's Shelter and the WDSS Social Issues Group, plus many more!  Ms. Shognosh and Mr. Drew and all the Future Elders are very welcoming and are excited to meet students who are coming into Grade 7!
