The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority provides both in-class and outdoor conservation education experiences which are closely tied to a variety of grade-specific curricula.  Many of the programs listed can be adapted to suit your specific interests.  First-hand self-learning is the emphasis of our program activities.

The Kids on the Block presentations are a wonderful addition to every school. This troupe of life-sized puppets uses the power of theatre and education to create an open environment in which to model and discuss the importance of inclusion, anti-bullying, health and wellness, and safety. 2020 presentations are already beginning to be booked. Outdoor education brings classroom studies to life. We offer seven hands-on Secondary programs that are available at the Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area near Petrolia. Other Conservation Areas may be available for certain programs (discuss with our staff when booking). Programs are 2 hours in length but can be modified to meet your needs. All programs promote Physical Fitness and positive Mental Health.

This year The Kids will be offering lessons virtually! For the past 30 years, The Kids on the Block has enchanted audiences through the use of life-sized puppets and relatable topics. With health and safety measures surrounding COVID-19 things may look a little different this year, but the magic is still the same. The Kids on the Block offers lessons on how we can become more compassionate and understanding of others. Programs include Bullying, Injury Prevention, Health and Wellness, Diversity and more. Relay Education is a Canadian charity that teaches children and youth about renewable energy and energy conservation. All of our workshops are curriculum connected and interactive, and are now available online. We are offering our workshops fully subsidized (free!) to LKDSB teachers thanks to funding we have for your region. The flyer attached contains all of the information teachers will need to register. Relay Education brings interactive, STEM based workshops about renewable energy and environmental topics to your classroom. As a response to COVID-19 we are offering virtual presentations that include experiments with wind turbines. Each presentation is approximately one hour. Annual Teen Transition Fair for students with special needs.

I am the emergency management coordinator for Point Edward and working with Lambton Public Health on the fixed site vaccination clinic taking place at the Point Edward arena.

I am reaching out to see if we can engage the students in Lambton County in providing artwork to line the walls of our vaccine clinics.  Their art would line the walkways and hallways into the clinic so possibly large 11x17 size paper with words of hope, thanks to frontline staff, healthcare workers, teachers, etc, generally any positive message.  Would be a great way to show off the creativity of the wonderful students and celebrate the people that have been fighting this virus on our behalf as well as celebrate the the positive step that the vaccine is in returning us to a "normal".

I engaged the principal at the local school, Bridgeview Public School, to provide some pictures and paintings to brighten the community hall clinic and it was extremely well received.  I will attached some heartwarming emails I received from the Public Health nurses showing their gratitude. 

I don't have a minimum or maximum amount I am asking for.  I can accommodate just a few or can homes for hundreds and hundreds of pieces of art.  In addition to the school art initiative we are working with Lambton County to collect and display the art of our local artists within the clinic as well.

There is a slight urgency to this as the clinics start soon (week of March 22) but I handle getting a steady flow of artwork coming in over a few days or weeks if that is needed.

Epilepsy Southwestern Ontario has been supporting persons who suffer from epilepsy in a variety of settings including schools for many years. It is our belief that information about the cognitive, psychological and social issues as well as the a good safety plan is the best way for these amazing students to get the best out of their school day.
It is apparent that many people are not aware of the support that we provide, despite the fact that we work closely with neurologists and epileptologist in the surrounding area.
To that end we are asking you to share the attached letter with all your Principals and/or Resource Staff in each of the schools in the Lambton Kent District School Board so that they are aware of the services that we can provide for them and their staff and students.

I am contacting you on behalf of the Eden Mills Writers’ Festival, a non-profit organization (Charitable Organization # 86528 0770 RR0001) committed to providing stimulating, thought-provoking, and entertaining literary programming for all ages.

We are thrilled to announce Imaginations Ignite!, an online event series for schools featuring Canadian authors Lawrence Hill, Heather M. O’Connor, Darcy Whitecrow, Carey Newman, Dane Liu, Jade Armstrong, KC Oster, and Dom Pelletier.

Designed for students ages 4 to 13, these events are sure to ignite imaginations and introduce students to worlds and ideas beyond their own experience. All events are free of charge and include live ASL interpretation.

Theatre Sarnia is pleased to present a performance of Something Rotten!
Something Rotten! follows Nick and Nigel Bottom, a pair of writing brothers who are trying desperately to find the perfect story to put on the stage. The show imaginatively explores the intersection of Elizabethan drama and modern musicals while teaching lessons about overcoming obstacles and achieving true collaboration and friendship. So, pack your quill and put on your tap shoes. Let’s head to the Renaissance!

The school closest to us is Wheatley Public School. We would like the children to be able to see their artwork hanging up at the fair.

This program is to introduce Grade 3 students to how plants grow, products made from plants farmers grow, soil health, dairy education and animal husbandry, while visiting an agricultural campus.  The event is geared to the grade 3 curriculum.  There is limited space and the registration process ends before the end of the school year.  The program is open to both Catholic and Public school boards

Lambton County Library's Teen Cosmic Reading Challenge launches July 4. Track reading throughout the summer and complete a list of summer activities for chances to win prizes.

Western Fair is back this September and School Tours are TOO!

Join us this fall, when our live agri-food education tours begin again.  Students can get hands-on experience with a variety of animal experts, livestock breed displays, and various crops. Tours begin Monday, September 12, 2022 until Friday, September 16, 2022 from 10:00am-2:00pm.  

If your class can’t join us in person this September, or you are looking for more online ag-education we’ve got you covered.   Connect with our school tour team the week of September 26, 2022 for a live stream education opportunity directly from the farm.   Virtually walk and talk with farmers as they take you through a portion of their barn and daily chores while you ask questions and learn.

Downsview Park is a Federal Crown Corporation that runs an outdoor education centre in Toronto. We offer curriculum connected school programs (virtually) and would love to let the teachers in your school board know. Our programs are interactive and are a great way to provide enrichment opportunities without leaving your school.

The programs we offer are for JK through Grade 8.  Our centre has been delivering program for more than 15 years.

Explore the visual narratives young artists, designers, and makers use to capture their unique stories and impressions about their world through diverse mediums and creative processes.

Eligibility
Open to all Chatham-Kent artists in grades 9-12. All media accepted. All works must be original and completed within the last year. A maximum of three works may be submitted by each artist.

How to Submit your Artwork
Please fill out the Application Form and email application form and photos of your artwork to ckartgallery@chatham-kent.ca subject line “Virtual Exhibition 2023.” Make sure photos are tagged with “Your Name_Title_School”. If you do not get acknowledgement of your submission being received within 2 business day please give us a call at 226.312.2025 x4421 to ensure we received your submission.

In the past I have distributed flyers to the following schools. 
Brooke Central, East Lambton, Centennial, Hill Crest, Queen E, and Wyoming schools.  The township prints the amount needed for each school so there is no paper cost to the school.  I typically contact the secretary for amount needed to go to youngest in each family.  This is the 22nd year we have been running this tournament for the kids in our community.  I will likely distribute these flyers the beginning of May.
