LKDSB congratulates 2023 recipients of Dr. Jack Parry and Stefanko Awards

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) celebrates the athletic and academic achievements of the 2023 recipients of the Dr. Jack Parry Award and Stefanko Award.

The awards honour secondary student-athletes from the Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton areas, respectively, who are outstanding in their athletic and academic achievements, as well as participate in extra-curricular activities.

The following is a list of the two LKDSB award recipients and a description of their accomplishments:

Dr. Jack Parry Award

Ashton Vink, Wallaceburg District Secondary School – Ashton strives for excellence inside and outside the classroom. He is a role model for his peers and has been recognized for his outstanding achievements in academics, athletics and community service throughout his secondary career. He has participated in football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, track and field, swimming, badminton and golf. Along with these activities Ashton was involved in Student Council, Student Athletic Association, and multiple community-led activities. He was also named valedictorian of his graduating class. Ashton will be continuing his studies at Lambton College in the Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technician program.

Stefanko Award

Gabrielle Jones, Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School - Gabrielle has demonstrated a strong commitment to both academics and athletics. She has earned top academic awards based on her hard work and diligence. Her athletic involvement includes both co-curricular and extracurricular achievements. She is an Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Gold Medal winner, and was selected by Athletics Ontario as an All-Ontarian Track and Field Athlete. During her high school career, she has been a member of NCIVS’ cross country, golf, swim and track and field teams. Gabrielle has also been a Student Council Co-Prime Minister and Key Club Co-President, as well as a member of the Peer Mentoring Program. Gabrielle will continue both her academic and athletic pursuits at the University of Pennsylvania.

β€œWe are proud of the 2023 recipients of the Dr. Jack Parry Award and Stefanko Awards,” said Director John Howitt. β€œThese students are leaders for their communities in academics, athletics and volunteering, and we wish them the best as they move forward in their future endeavours.”
