From Mr. DeNure and the Fishing ClubAttention Panthers - If you love to fish and would like to join the JMSS Fishing Team, please see Mr. DeNure this week to sign up and find out more about the activities we have planned for the semester. All skill levels are welcome, however, particpants will need to have their own fishing equipment.

From the Gender and Sexuality AllianceThe Gender and Sexuality Alliance is resuming its weekly meetings in Room 105 at lunch today. In today's meeting we will be selecting and voting on our shirt styles. If you can not make the meeting today, please make sure to post your choice in the Google Classroom before noon. From Mr. HarwoodThe boys' hockey team took on the Wallaceburg Tartans yesterday and battled to a 2-2 tie. Goals were scored by Kyle Swis with a short-handed marker and Isaac Greenway. Hunter Cowley was outstanding in net and Brady Marks was a defensive stand-out.

From Mr. Roesch​The Junior Girls volleyball team won two more games last night leaving them in first place in the AA standings at the halfway mark of the regular season. Strong play by Paige Pereira and Jayden Jeffereson led the Panthers. The girls are reminded of their practice tonight at 2:30 in the Larry Lahey Athletic Centre.

From Mr. Fung​Last night our junior boys basketball team traveled to Wallaceburg to face the Tartans in league play. It was a close, intense game that required overtime. Eli Jobin settled the team down during the overtime period and the team made crucial foul shots to come away with a 54/49 win! Defensive player of the game was Conner Benn, and top scorer with 4 three pointers and a couple of baskets was Mekhi Shadd.

From Mr.HarwoodThe Panthers took on CKSS on Friday and won an impressive 5-4 victory. The cats fell behing 4-1 in the second period but roared back tying the game late in the second on a 3 goal performace by Matt Roberts. Late in the third Ben Robertson scored to seal the victory. Kyle Swiss added a goal and an assist, and Matt Roberts added an assist to go with his hat trick! Way to go Panthers! 
From Mrs. Hiltz​Congratulations goes to the Senior Girls' Volleyball Team as they competed in the Chatham Christian tournament on Saturday. The girls pulled through to win the tournament, thanks to great setting by Kate Balkwill and great defence by Rachel Carleton. The girls are reminded of their practice today in the Fergie gym.

If you have an older sibling who went to JMSS prior to 2015, we might just have a cool gift idea! We have surplus yearbooks that we would like to clean out. Many, but not all years prior to 2015 are available at deep, deep discounts. Fact: Human trafficking in Ontario is on the rise.
Fact: The internet and social media are common ways for traffickers to troll for, and groom females for trafficking purposes.
Help bring awareness to issues surrounding human trafficking. Knowledge is power! 
This Friday is dress up, not dress down day, in support of Dress-ember!
From Mrs. McQuade​This year the Indigenous Arts class has decided to bring back The Red Dress Project. This project aims to bring awareness to the issue of the thousands of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls across Canada. It is an issue that was largely ignored until artist Jaime Black brought it to the country's attention through her artwork. In order to create this project at JMSS, we need read dresses to borrow temporarily or permanently. If you can ehlp, please bring them to room 106 or see Mrs. McQuade.

John McGregor Secondary School is holding our first annual winter Gala! Seasonal entertainment will be provided with a greeting from Mr. & Mrs. Claus; the JMSS Band, conducted by Mrs. Ross will perform; and a drama class production under Mr. Pearson’s direction will take place.

Members of the Delaware Nation at Moraviantown will perform traditional drumming and dance.  The night will be concluded with a Nutcracker Ballet performance leading into the Cosmetology Gala Hair Show and SPA Club Beauty Walk staged by Mme. Thibault.  Refreshments and finger food will also be provided by the Hospitality program. 

The Library will be have a display of all the programs that are taking parts of this Gala.

The 401, in our own backyard is the most heavily used corridor to move women who are being trafficked. 
Please dress up to show your support and to raise awareness of this disturbing issue in our province.

​Lifetouch will be holding retake days from December 17th to 19th for any potential graduates who were unable to get their pictures taken at school. If you have not had your photos taken yet, or if you need retakes, please call
 Lifetouch Portrait Studios at 519-380-9859, extension 0 to book a sitting ASAP. Portraits must be taken on these days to make the yearbook deadline. The Lifetouch office is located at 480 Riverview Road, Unit #6 in Chatham.

From Mrs. HiltzCongratulations to th senior girls' volleyball team who finished second in their pool on Friday in Sarnia. They played well against LCCVI but lost in the semis. Special performances by Kerrigan Jacques who stepped up as a leader and Maddux Swayze who was the setter. Girls are reminded of their 2:30 pm practice today in the Fergie Gym.

From Mrs. McQuade​This year the Indigenous Arts class has decided to bring back The Red Dress Project. This project aims to bring awareness to the issue of the thousands of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls across Canada. It is an issue that was largely ignored until artist Jaime Black brought it to the country's attention through her artwork. In order to create this project at JMSS, we need read dresses to borrow temporarily or permanently. If you can ehlp, please bring them to room 106 or see Mrs. McQuade.

John McGregor Secondary School is holding our first annual winter Gala! Seasonal entertainment will be provided with a greeting from Mr. & Mrs. Claus; the JMSS Band, conducted by Mrs. Ross will perform; and a drama class production under Mr. Pearson’s direction will take place.

Members of the Delaware Nation at Moraviantown will perform traditional drumming and dance.  The night will be concluded with a Nutcracker Ballet performance leading into the Cosmetology Gala Hair Show and SPA Club Beauty Walk staged by Mme. Thibault.  Refreshments and finger food will also be provided by the Hospitality program. 

The Library will be have a display of all the programs that are taking parts of this Gala. 

The gala is on December 19th, doors open at 5:00 pm and there will be door prizes you can win!  The show will start at 6:00pm and end around 7:30pm. The tickets are only $5.00 plus one canned good for some of the local food banks in Chatham-Kent. Funds raised will go to support The United Way of Chatham-Kent!

From Junior Boys BasketballLast night our junior boys basketball team hosted the LCCVI Lancers. Our boys were not as organized as our guests and had their first loss in league play. Defensive player of the game was Isaac Meyerink, who was also the top Panther scorer. 
The boys will travel to Windsor tonight for a tournament. They should be excused at 8:40 this morning.

Junior Girls Volleyball​Last night in Sarnia the Junior Girls Volleyball Team won 4 games and lost 4 games in their first league play action. Great play and improvement was shown by all. Highlights included Paige Pereira's leadership on the floor, Jayden Jefferson's all around hustle, Celina Griffith's spiking barage and some great serving from Alexis Hope. Players are reminded of their practice today in the Larry Lahey Athletic Centre at 2:30.

The grade 11 and 12 cosmetology classes are hosting the 1st Annual Winter Gala, here at John McGregor on the evening of December 19th. We will be selling tickets every day at lunch by the Larry Lahey gym. The tickets are only $5.00 plus one canned good. The purpose of this Winter Gala is to spread the joy of giving to our community. The proceeds of the gala will be going to various charities around Chatham-Kent. Please come and support what your school is dong for your community.

​From the Library“Reading is very good and you can quote me on that!”  Well, Mrs. Laporte just did and this is why Stan Lee is also a Librarian’s hero.  As such, his life’s work needs to be celebrated.  

Stop by the Library during a scheduled break or at lunch to pick up a Stan Lee Comic Book, Movie and Television Trivia sheet.  Use your research skills to link the Marvel characters, or actors who have played them, to a specific comic series, movie franchise or television program and win!

​Senior Boys' VolleyballFriday the senior boys' volleyball team won the LKSSAA Championship by defeating Great Lakes Secondary School in a very close final. The Panthers will host the Essex Red Raiders tonight at 6pm.  Congrats to the team as they advance to SWOSSAA finals.

Senior Girls BasketballThe senior girls basketball team played their best home game of the season last night against Blenheim. It was an exciting, physical, and close game that went right down to the final buzzer. The Panthers pulled off the win with great team defense and two big shots in the last minute by Olivia Roesch and Haley Blackbird. Olivia Roesch led the scoring with 12 points. Rachel Carleton pulled down 13 rebounds. Great team defense was led by Maddie Baylis and Natalie Little. Congratulations ladies! The girls next action is next Tuesday in the LKSSA semi-final. Practice tonight is at 2:30.
​Junior Birls Basketball​The junior girls basketball team played an amazing game last night, losing to Blenheim by only one point (29-28). Top scorers were Angela Luis (15) and Kacey Day (9). Excellent board play by Celina Griffiths and Kaitlyn Brooks. Way to go team!
​Art Club​Art Club meets today at lunch in room 106. New Members are always welcome.
