At the January 17, 2018 Board Meeting, LKDSB Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of an Indigenous Student Trustee position beginning in the 2018-2019 school year. The LKDSB currently has two student trustees serving as members of the Board.
"It is important to have a diversity of student voices represented on the Board of Trustees in order to ensure all students' perspectives and ideas are reflected in Board decisions," said LKDSB Chair Elizabeth Hudie. "Additionally, we are excited to welcome the LKDSB's first Indigenous Student Trustee, as this position will further support the engagement of Indigenous students in Board governance."
