The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario's public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.
The act applies to organizations such as:
- the Government of Ontario
- Crown agencies
- municipalities
- hospitals
- boards of public health
- school boards
- universities and colleges
- Ontario Power Generation
- other public sector employers who receive a significant level of funding from the provincial government

LKDSB's Executive Compensation Program receives approval from Ministry of Education
On January 29, 2018, the Ministry of Education approved the Lambton Kent District School Board's Executive Compensation Program.
The Board's Program complies with 2014 provincial legislation (Broader Public Sector Executive Compensation Act) that requires all designated broader public sector designated employers to develop and adopt Executive Compensation Programs that ensure a responsible, transparent, and consistent approach to managing executive salaries.
