Out an abundance of caution and after careful consideration, the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is temporarily closing North Lambton Secondary School to students as of Monday, March 15, 2021 until Friday, March 19, 2021 due to staffing challenges.
Lambton Public Health has notified the LKDSB that there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the North Lambton Secondary School community. Lambton Public Health is working closely with the school community and is contacting any individuals (students and staff) who may have been in potential contact with the virus. LKDSB appreciates the ongoing support from Lambton Public Health through this process.
The number of people who are currently assessed as having potential contact with the virus is such that LKDSB does not anticipate having enough staff to safely deliver face-to-face programming at North Lambton Secondary School as of Monday, March 15, 2021. Therefore, after careful consideration, LKDSB has decided to temporarily close the school to students for in-person learning as of Monday, March 15, 2021 until Friday, March 19, 2021 and students will participate in remote learning. LKDSB expects to reopen the school to students on Monday, March 22, 2021. This is a school board and not a public health decision and is out of an abundance of caution as LKDSB wants to ensure it is able to safely staff the building.
Teachers will connect with families as per their typical means of communication to provide remote learning details.
LKDSB will notify families to confirm the date it expects to safely reopen the school to students. Please be assured Lambton Public Health is working directly with the school to contact those who have been in close contact and to provide further directions. If you have not been contacted, you have not been in close contact with a confirmed case.
Throughout the school year, families and staff are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow the health and safety protocols in place to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19, including completing the daily school screening assessment tool.
LKDSB is informing families of this as soon as possible, as we understand that families may have to make alternative arrangements. Information will be sent to parents/guardians and posted on the school website to inform the school community.
LKDSB appreciates the school community's understanding and we continue to work together to support the safe operation of schools.
