Students have been working with Ms. Leanne on fish scale art. She taught the students the importance of using the whole fish. After catching, cleaning, eating, and composting, the students used the dyed fish scales to make beautiful spring art. 🎣

🌍 Happy Earth Day from our school community! Today our classrooms were buzzing with curiosity, care, and creativity as students celebrated our beautiful planet. Mme Cooke's class did some artwork while Mrs. Blakenship's class planted seeds and went on a thoughtful nature walk, taking time to notice and appreciate the things that make our world special. Across the school, many classes joined in with their own Earth‑friendly activities—learning, exploring, and discovering new ways to care for the environment. We’re proud of our students for showing such heart for the planet we all share. 💚🌱

Our Grade 5 students created beautiful ribbon sweaters while learning about their cultural significance in Anishinaabe traditions. 🧵✨
We are grateful to Carrie Plain and our community partners for this meaningful experience, including Aamjiwnaang and the Niigaan Gdizhaami Fund. Students are encouraged to wear their sweaters on Wednesdays as a commitment to reconciliation and to their ongoing learning and understanding. 💛

Sunshine, smiles, and so much fun! ☀️
Our students made the most of the beautiful, sunny weather during recess today. From running and playing games to laughing with friends, the joy and energy were contagious! It’s amazing what a little sunshine can do to brighten everyone’s day. 🌼

This Thursday, wear blue to support Autism Awareness day.

Today is the last day to submit orders!

🌱 Learning in Action! 🌱
Our Grade 5/6 students from Mrs. Leitch and Mme. Saunders' class rolled up their sleeves today and took on a schoolyard clean‑up — and what an impact they made! From collecting litter to sorting recyclables, they showed real leadership and pride in caring for their environment.
This activity connects directly to the Ontario curriculum, where students learn about environmental responsibility, citizenship, and caring for the spaces we share.
By stepping outside the classroom and into their own schoolyard, students had the chance to apply what they’ve been learning in a meaningful, real‑world way. Their hard work today helps keep our shared spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
We’re proud of their teamwork, responsibility, and commitment to making a difference. 🌎💚
Great job, Grade 5/6!

🍎 It’s Big Crunch Day! 🍎
Today our students joined thousands across Ontario in taking a loud, proud CRUNCH to celebrate healthy eating and support the incredible work of Ontario’s Student Nutrition Program.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Ontario Student Nutrition Program for their ongoing commitment to nourishing students across the province. Your support helps ensure every child has the fuel they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
A big thank you as well to the President’s Choice Children’s Charity – Power Full Kids™ program for helping make nutritious food accessible in our school community. Your generosity makes a real difference in the lives of our students.
In true Big Crunch spirit, a few of our students even lost baby teeth during today’s celebration — talk about a memorable crunch! 😄🦷
Here’s to healthy habits, full bellies, and one very crunchy celebration! 🍏✨
