We are excited to cheer on our runners in the "Final Heat" event on Monday and Tuesday next week to determine who is going to the conference meet to represent SJM. If you qualified from your class to run the 100, 200 or 400 m, ensure to have your runners and water with you. Freezies will be available for sale for $1 during this period.

Mme. Mezz and Mme. Coates's class made “yummy in my tummy healthy banana muffins” from the You’re the Chef menu created by Lambton Public Health. 🍌🧁
During the activity, students learned how to scoop, measure, and stir — building confidence and hands‑on skills while creating a delicious, healthy snack.
A heartfelt thank you to President’s Choice Power Full Kids Eat Well Program, whose support helps cover food costs and Lambton Public Health for making experiences like this possible for our students.

Looking forward to the 4th Annual Powwow!

This May, we recognize Vascular Birthmark Awareness Month — a time to raise awareness, support families, and celebrate the strength of those living with vascular birthmarks, anomalies, and related conditions. ❤️
To everyone living with a vascular birthmark: you are seen, valued, and beautiful exactly as you are!
Ms. McLean's grade 1/2 showed their support by placing red hearts on their cheeks today.

Our Grade 5 students, along with students from Hanna, Lansdowne and High Park, had an amazing day on the water learning how to fish, gaining hands-on experience preparing a fish, and enjoying a delicious fish and chip lunch together! 🎣🐟🍟
A special thank you to the Niigaan Gdizhaami Fund, in partnership with Aamjiwnaang, for making this meaningful experience possible for our students. 💙

A huge thank you to Jackpot Time for their generous support! Because of your contribution, we are able to purchase new phys ed equipment and outdoor items for our FDK and primary yard. Our students will benefit from more opportunities to play, explore, and stay active every day. 💙

A huge thank you to the LKDSB Summer Engagement Students for taking the time to speak with our Grade 7/8 students about the transition to high school! Your honest and encouraging insights about schedules, lockers, extracurricular activities, and what to expect in those first few weeks helped ease nerves and build excitement for the journey ahead. We truly appreciate you sharing your experiences, answering questions, and helping our students feel more confident and prepared for this exciting next step. Your leadership and support made a meaningful impact! ✏️ 🏀 🏫

Ms. Leanne and Mrs. Richardson worked with the Grade 3/4 class to explore mathematics through beading. This hands-on, visual approach helped students better understand abstract concepts such as arithmetic, algebraic patterns, and proportional reasoning. By incorporating Indigenous design, the learning experience also encouraged cultural awareness, creativity, and deeper student engagement.

Today was a powerful example of learning, empathy, and inclusion in action. Our grade 5/6 classes came together to learn about inclusion and accommodations, with a special focus on understanding the experiences of individuals who are blind or have low vision, both in school and within the wider community.
We were honoured to welcome members of the Petrolia Lions Club, who shared a specialized soccer ball designed for students who are blind or low vision. The ball includes an audible feature that helps remove barriers and promotes full participation in physical activity for all students.
Moments like these remind us that when we work together, we can build a more inclusive and accessible school community. Thank you to the Petrolia Lions Club for your generosity and for helping make play accessible for everyone.⚽️

Happy Mother’s Day! 🌺💐💕
