Our Geography students participated in a Cultural Geography activity by carving pumpkins and our ALLP students and Peer Helpers used their artistic talents to show Northern's Spirit of Halloween with some spooktacular painted pumpkins. These pumpkins will be displayed this Saturday at Fright Night at Cana-Scare-A Park. Our Key Club students have been volunteering everyday over the past 3 weeks to prepare for the big event.  Check out our Vikings' hard work this weekend!

Our Health & Wellness SHSM students took their learning outside the classroom today for an incredible Self-Defense Training session at The Butcher Shop Jiu Jitsu studio! Our students learned valuable skills to keep themselves & others safe.

We are pleased to share that NCIVS students continue to shine on EQAO Assessments. On the 2025-26 Grade 10 OSSLT, our students had a pass rate of 89%. This places NCIVS at 4% above the provincial average. We celebrate this result as part of our commitment to student success.

Visiting Korny Korners was a highlight this week in the ALLP program. Joined by their peers in the PAI 4O1 class, students learned the inner workings of a farm while enjoying the animals and hands-on machinery. It was a beautiful day to visit this local farm destination.

Our ALLP students read the book “In a DARK DARK ROOM," today. Working with their peers in our Grade 12 PAI 4O1 class, they created ghosts to get into the Halloween spirit. Special thank you to Ms. Black for guiding the learning & creating in the library. We learn best together!

This month, many of our Northern elementary feeder schools held Open Houses for their school community. NCIVS students volunteered at these events, shared information and some Viking swag for our Future Vikings! Welcome to the Northern family!

On this National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, a day of reflection and remembrance, our school was a sea of words to inspire. Posted both inside and outside the school, these orange shirts gave pause to reflect on the importance of honouring one another. On our journey of reconciliation at NCIVS, we hold these words in our hearts as we move forward, together.

This Thursday, Sept. 24th NCIVS looks to beat last year’s donations for their annual Terry Fox Run/Walk/Roll for cancer! As well, two lucky students will have the honour of tossing a pie in the face of two deserving staff members. This annual tradition reflects the Viking commitment to "Finish It Like Terry."
