Take Our Kids to Work Day is an experiential learning opportunity for Grade 9 students across Canada offering them the chance to see the world of work firsthand.
Grade 9 students at Northern will have the opportunity to visit a workplace with a parent, relative or family friend. Permission forms were distributed in homerooms and are due by Thursday, Oct. 30.

Part 1: Wow! Our Viking students were busy this week! Football winners! Girl's soccer team playing for a cause, cross country winners, weight room workouts, and our ALLP class has submitted entires into the Brigden Fair!






Our Artist of the Moment is Grade 12 student Emily C. Emily shares that she enjoys art because it's a calming activity and she often uses photos she has taken as inspiration. Emily experiments with all mediums. Emily's diverse work will be showcased outside the main office.






What an incredible afternoon for our staff and students listening to Tyler Smith survivor of the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy deliver a heartfelt message about showing up for others, resiliency and self care. Thank you to the Centre for providing this opportunity.

Last Week At Northern! Marcel te Bokkel from the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC), The University of Waterloo, visited NCIVS for some engaging mathematics sessions. Our Football team came up winners! And denaturing some proteins in Senior 4U Biology class.




As part of honouring Truth and Reconciliation week at Northern, Ms. Shaw's grade 9 and 10 art classes collaborated on this stunning mural to commemorate the week. Miigwech for creating such a beautiful reminder of shared our journey of truth and reconciliation.

The ALLP students spent September preparing and learning about the skills needed to be a successful employee and worker as part of their World of Work class. Now they are putting that knowledge to work in their first co-op placements of the school year.







NCIVS Seniors attended the ONTARIO UNIVERSITIES Fair at the Metro Convention Centre on Sunday. Great day, lots of excitement and information gathered. Where to next? These students are making big plans!


Last Week At Northern! Some tough competition in our PAI class with our students in the ALLP program. Learning some Tragically Hip in Mr. Campbell's guitar class. Working at Heights training for our SHSM students. And the beginning of two student clubs: Art and Math.





Three former Viking Cross Country runners are now first year athletes at their respective universities. All of them competed today in the Don Mills Open! Congrats to Zoe Alexander, Alex Pretty, Alyson Laird. You make us #VikingProud

This morning, Director Girardi was thrilled to visit NCIVS to help kick off the 45th anniversary of the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope!
Over the years, LKDSB students, staff, and families have come together to raise an incredible $2,122,226 in support of cancer research!
As we celebrate this milestone year, we can’t wait to see what our 2025 total will be. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and helped carry on Terry’s legacy. 🌟
