On October 27th, Fire Engine #3 from the new Colborne Station and Rescue 1 from the East Street Station assisted at Northern Collegiate to demonstrate their life-saving equipment used during automotive accidents. The Honda Odyssey used in the demonstration was generously donated by a staff member here at Northern. The firefighters took their time to explain the tools and how on-the-spot problem-solving helps them through their toughest jobs. They demonstrated several vehicle recovery techniques, including removing the doors to provide easier access to injured occupants, and using the Jaws of Life to move large parts of the vehicle—such as the dashboard—away from an occupant’s lower body during a rescue. Thank you again to Station #1 and Station #3 for spending time with us today and for continuing to connect with our community.
