Looking for information on Kindergarten?

Schools across the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) are welcoming families to their upcoming Kindergarten Open Houses—special events designed not for paperwork, but for connection, comfort, and community.

If your child will be four or five years old by December 31, 2026, you’re invited to visit your local LKDSB school, meet caring staff, explore classrooms, and experience firsthand the warm, family‑centred environment where your child’s learning journey will begin.

Open House Dates:
Wednesday, April 1 (times vary by school—families are encouraged to check with their school)
Wednesday, May 27, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Families are welcome to attend one or both of the Open Houses—whatever helps their child to feel most comfortable. Families who have already registered or attended a previous event are invited to come again. LKDSB wants families to have as many opportunities as they need to connect with staff, explore the school, and help their child feel confident and excited about starting Kindergarten.

“Kindergarten is one of the most important transitions in a child’s life, and we want families to feel supported every step of the way,” says Ben Hazzard, LKDSB Superintendent of Education. “Our Open Houses are about much more than registration—they’re about building relationships, helping children feel at home, and welcoming families into the LKDSB community. When you join us, you’re not just signing up for school—you’re becoming part of our family.”

During the Open Houses, families will be able to:
• Visit their future classrooms
• Meet educators and support staff
• Explore outdoor play areas and learning spaces
• Ask questions about the Kindergarten experience
• Learn more about programs, including French Immersion

Families are encouraged to register online in advance but are also welcome to register at the event—or even afterwards—once they’ve had the chance to tour the school and meet the team.

“At LKDSB, we want families to feel the excitement and belonging that come with starting school,” Hazzard adds. “The Open House is the beginning of a partnership that will support your child throughout their entire educational journey.”
