Police Investigating Threats to WDSS CK19009592

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to Wallaceburg District Secondary School in regards to a threatening note that was found in the school.

In consultation with the LKDSB, a decision was made to close the school today.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the school is closed today as the safety of all staff and students at WDSS are our top priority," says Constable Renee Cowell.

Cowell adds, "I can ensure everyone that we are taking the contents of this note very seriously and that officers will be in Wallaceburg today to further investigate the matter in an effort to identify the person responsible."

At this time, police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to any other schools in the Wallaceburg area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Derek Shaw at dereks@chatham-kent.ca or 519-358-4136. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
