Due to fog, buses are cancelled this morning. If you are able to safely get your child(ren) to school, the buses will run in the afternoon to bring them home.

As part of the LKDSB, Zone is committed to learning about the history of indigenous people in what we now know as Canada.
Across our country, September 30th is known as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation or Orange Shirt Day. In addition to encouraging all students and families to wear an orange shirt that day, our educators are committing to helping our students understand the meaning behind this day and actions they can take to honour the many lives which were lost due to residential schools in the past.

Our students and community did an amazing job at crushing the fundraising goal of $200 by donating a total of $336!!!!
And, some students did as many as 15 laps around the school yard during our run this afternoon.
Congratulations to everyone for keeping Terry's legacy alive with the hope for better cancer research in the future!
The full moon in September 2026 will peak on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 12:49 p.m. The full moon this month is known as the Harvest Moon because it is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox (which occurred on September 22, 2026).
The moon will appear full and bright for several nights surrounding the peak date. Because it is a Harvest Moon, it rises shortly after sunset with a shorter gap between sunset and moonrise for multiple consecutive evenings.
Knowing how important the agricultural community in Bothwell, and Chatham-Kent, we recognize there may be farmers who are working under the bright light of the harvest moon this season.

We are grateful for the incredible turnout we had for our Meet the Staff event last evening. It was amazing to have so many students and their families come out to support our school.
A special shout out to Angela Richards and Roberta Northmore, two LKDSB trustees who visited and had some meaningful conversations with students, their parents and guardians, and the staff as well.
As always, Ms. Crystal from the Bothwell branch of the CK Public Library was a hit amongst the students, engaging them in events at the local library.

With an updated LKDSB policy, all volunteers are required to have a Vulnerable Sector Check from their local police agency before commencing the volunteer duties. This includes helping with field trips, skating, or special events.

Ahead of this date, we are encouraging all students to bring a "Toonie for Terry" as a donation for the run. When your student brings a donation, they will receive a ballot which will be drawn for a Terry Fox t-shirt.

I reminder to parents and guardians that Zone will have the first School Council meeting of the 2026-2027 school year tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15th beginning at 4:30pm. Elections will take place at this meeting. If you would like a nomination form ahead of the meeting, please contact the school office.
The staff at Zone are excited to welcome all families and students to the 2026-2027 school year. Whether you have attended Zone before, or are a new family, we hope that your first day with us is the beginning of a great year.

The starter’s horn sounded at Great Lakes Secondary School—and with it, a new LKDSB tradition was born.
For the first time, 531 elementary student athletes from across our entire bard came together for a unified Track & Field Meet— with representation stretching from Wheatley to Grand Bend.
From powerful sprints to soaring jumps and electrifying relays, the day was filled with determination, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments. Even more impactful? Students competing alongside peers they’d never met before, building connections that reached far beyond the finish line.
This wasn’t just a meet—it was the beginning of something bigger for LKDSB students.
