While our Grade 9 students were out exploring various careers for Take Our Kids to Work Day, we had the pleasure of welcoming our Grade 8 future Tartans to engage with us for the day!
We kept them busy and learning with:
School tours to get a feel for the place! 🏫
Learning the history of lacrosse 🥍
Hands-on science experiments 🧪
Exploring the trades 🛠️
Navigating challenging breakout boxes 🧩
Participating in games of low organization. 😄
It was a perfect day for creating new connections and enhancing existing ones. A great day for all involved! We can't wait to see this group again soon! #FutureTartans #Grade8 #HighSchoolBound #TakeOurKidsToWorkDay #Community

Our young scientists took their learning to the next level by exploring mechanical mixtures with a Halloween twist. They enhanced their understanding by experimenting with eerie projects like the Fire-Breathing Pumpkin, the mysterious Death of a Gummy Bear, and the surprising Self-Carving Pumpkin!
Learning about chemical and physical changes has never been so thrilling! 🤯

Grade 9 visual arts class painted pumpkins for local seniors, sharing their talent to make their porches more festive for Hallowe’en. 🎃

That feeling when your students get to explore the world (and beyond!) without leaving the classroom! The new LKDSB VR sets are a huge win for innovative education. 🌌Let the virtual adventures begin! 🌎

Out of the classroom and into the conservation area! 🌲 Our Grade 9 Geography classes and Ms. Lee's class spent the day at the Lorne Henderson Conservation Area for some amazing hands-on environmental education. From pond studies 🔬and insect classification🔎 to watershed assessments, 💧students were busy being real-life environmental scientists!
