Today is Lunar New Year and students in
Mrs. Richardson's grade 3/4 class were learning about the Year of the Snake.

We are so grateful to our local photographer, who also happens to be a father of students at SJM, for visiting us today and sharing about his recent photography adventure to Churchill. He shared some beautiful photography of animals and the Arctic, his experiences leading to this profession, and shared his technology that was used to capture the photos. He advocated for positive changes to our daily living to protect the world around us and slow down climate change. Such a great learning experience for the students.

We are so excited to welcome our newest Knights tomorrow and Friday for Kinderstart! Please join us between 4:00-7:00 on Thursday and Friday between 9:00 and 3:00. Learn all about our the amazing programs we offer, including French Immersion and Ojibwe, and meet our caring staff.

Looking forward to our upcoming Valentine's Day dance! Tickets for items available at the dance can now be purchased in School Cash Online.

LKDSB and Sir John Moore have new websites! Download the app to your phone and stay up to date with current news and events.

We are so grateful for the learning opportunities offered by Leanne, Nim, and Ashley! They work with students on various skills, including math and language, and then continue learning together through fun games and activities during recess Lunch and Learns. There are so many great opportunities offered and connections being made.

So much school spirit at SJM! Thank you to everyone who participated in Wacky Sock Day and earned extra house colour points for their team.

We are looking forward to meeting all of our upcoming Knights! Welcome to Sir John Moore.

On Friday, our intermediate students embarked on an exhilarating adventure to Boler Mountain for a day of tubing. The hills were alive with laughter and excitement as students zoomed down the slopes. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, with clear skies and crisp air.
Everyone had an amazing time, making memories that will last a lifetime. A special shoutout goes to Mrs. Clarke for her outstanding organization and dedication in making this trip possible. Thank you, Mrs. Clarke!

Attention all Grade 8 students and families: Making the move to high school is an exciting step that marks the beginning of a new chapter. Our first Colour House Assembly of 2025 was a success! Thank you to Ms. Ford and Mme Roy's Grade 4/5 class for taking the lead in organizing it and for teaching us about Compassion. We also played a Minute to Win It contest between the colour houses and recognized our Responsibility awards winners from the month of December. We have a great team of student leaders who run our assemblies each month, and they always do a fabulous job!

We are so proud of our boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams! Both teams played very well. The boys advanced to the semifinal game, and the girls to the finals. Way to go! We want to thank our dedicated coaches, Ms. Pash, Ms. LeFaive and Ms. Martin, for sharing their love and knowledge of the game, their time, and their hard work throughout the coaching season. We would also like to thank all the families for committing to driving the students to and from the practices and games, as well as to the students for their efforts, dedication, and openness to learning.

OPP Kids Program- We are so grateful to Officer Karlsson, who meets with our grade 5 students weekly to explore various topics, including the law, social media, peer pressure, bullying, and alcohol/ drug use. The hour-long sessions, over 6 weeks, have been a great opportunity for students to learn directly from an officer, ask questions, and hear about real-life examples. We appreciate this great community partnership!
