🍁✨ Mme MacNeill and Mme Konecny’s Kindergarten Class is Exploring Patterns! ✨🍁

Our young learners in French Immersion Kindergarten have been busy discovering the world of patterning. Students are developing their ability to recognize, describe, and extend patterns.

To bring patterning to life, the class has been:
🧵 Making beautiful pattern bracelets
🧱 Building LEGO towers with repeating colour sequences
🐻 Using coloured bears to create AB and ABC patterns
🍂 Exploring fall materials like leaves and beads to build patterns

Through hands-on activities and playful exploration, students are deepening their understanding of how patterns work — all while having fun and expressing their creativity!

✨ Mme McLaughlin’s class has been learning all about Diwali this week! ✨ Students, through hands-on activities and meaningful discussions, explored the traditions, symbols, and celebrations that make this festival of lights so special.

🎓 We couldn't be more #LKDSBProud of Superintendent Ben Hazzard, who leads LKDSB’s Elementary Program, on earning his Doctorate in Education from the Western University! His research is helping strengthen early literacy supports and student success across the district!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Congratulations to our SJM Cross Country Team! 🌟 Our runners gave it their all at today’s meet — showing incredible effort, teamwork, and determination! 💪 There were many personal bests, ribbon winners, and we’re thrilled to share that several students will be moving on to the district meet next week! 🎉👏 We’re so proud of everyone who represented SJM with such heart and sportsmanship. 🏅💙💛 A special thank you to our coaches, Mme Saunders and Ms. Leitch for your efforts to prepare the students for the races today.

🧵🎨 Creative stitches in Grade 7/8! Mme Rudy's Grade 7/8 students have been busy learning to sew in art class as they explore the element of form. From threading needles to shaping fabric, students are developing new hands-on skills while expressing their creativity! 👻✨ Stay tuned to see their upcoming Halloween project — it’s sure to be spooktacular!

Congratulations to Mrs. Richardson’s Grade 3/4 class! 👏🎉 These students have been working hard and showing great responsibility by consistently following classroom routines and completing their work. What an amazing day at Boler Mountain! A couple of our Grade 7/8 classes got the opportunity to face their fears, supported one another, and conquered the Treetop Adventure Park and Ziplining. It was great to see so much teamwork and laughter up in the trees!
The remaining Grade 7/8 students will get their turn tomorrow — we can't wait to see them soar!

📚✨ In Ms. Clarke’s Grade 7/8 math rotation this week, students have been diving into integers and rounding in creative and engaging ways! Through small group rotations, students had the chance to: 🎲 Play interactive math games 💻 Strengthen their skills on Knowledgehook 👩‍🏫 Work directly with Ms. Clarke for guided practice It’s amazing to see the focus, collaboration, and enthusiasm as they build their confidence in math. Way to go, Grade 7/8s! 🙌👏

🌱🎨 Over the past couple of weeks, Ms. Leanne has been working with students to learn about the Three Sisters — corn, beans, and squash. Together, they explored the story and importance of these teachings, and created these beautiful pieces to help display their learning.

Congratulations to the 2-Pitch team on taking 3rd place! You played with incredible heart and determination. Every single player put in the work, and you should be incredibly proud of this fantastic achievement. Well done! A special thank you to our coaches, Ms. West and Ms. Blankenship! ⚾️

Our grade 5s participated in the first OPP Kids program with Officer Karlsson today. Over the next 5 weeks, he will be meeting with the students to teach a number of topics, such as the law, peer pressure, bullying, drugs and alcohol, and social media. So grateful for our community partners!

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation 🧡 Today, students and staff at Sir John Moore wore orange to honour and remember the children who were taken from their families and communities by the residential school system. By wearing orange today, and every Wednesday throughout the school year, we recognize the ongoing impact of residential schools and reaffirm our commitment to truth, reconciliation, and creating a future where every child matters.

🎉 BINGO FUN IN MATH! 🎉 Mrs. Jeansonne’s Grade 4/5 class had a blast today trying out a brand new *Multiplication Bingo* game from our latest math resource, What to Look For 2! 🎲✖️ We love seeing our students build fluency and confidence in such a fun way. Way to go, Room 18— keep up the great work! 💪📚✨

A heartfelt thank you to our 10 amazing volunteers who helped bring the fair to life. Your time and dedication made all the difference!
