Congratulations to SJM for winning the coveted Dom-Inn-O Challenge Trophy for the school that collected the most cereal boxes per capita! Thank you to the Inn for providing freezies for our students. We will proudly display the trophy throughout the year and look forward to participating again next year.
Our SJM E Sports season has come to an end! We finished up recently with the tournament at St. Clair College in Windsor. The team did well, had fun, and represented our school proudly in Rocket League, Mario, Kart, and Super Smash Brothers. We celebrated with our team on Friday with a pizza party and look forward to the start of the next season in October. Great job everyone! A huge thank you to our coaches, Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Moran for all of their efforts throughout the year.
We had a great day with our Principal for the Day, Mr. Davis. Students began and ended the day to Justin Bieber music on the PA, Ms. Leanne received a reserved parking space, all students enjoyed a movie and popcorn in the middle block, and 2nd recess was extended for an extra 10 minutes. Looking forward to having him join the LKDSB teaching staff in another 15-20 years!

We’re incredibly proud to share that five students from our school have been recognized as winners in the National Youth Remembrance Contest! This contest, organized by the Legion National Foundation in partnership with The Royal Canadian Legion, invite youth across Canada to honour our Veterans and keep the tradition of Remembrance alive through art, writing, and video.
These 5 talented students created powerful and meaningful posters that stood out among entries from across the country. What an amazing achievement!

It's the Parent Council SJM Year End BBQ this Thursday from 4:00-6:30. There will be a balloon twister, ice cream truck (with free ice cream for all guests), the book fair, and games. We are also welcoming many community partners, including the Corunna Library, OPP, Lambton Public Health and the Corunna Fire Department. While we had to make some last minute adjustments due to the weather today, we had a wonderful day at the 3rd Annual SJM Pow Wow. We are so appreciative of the collaboration between Aamjiwnaang and Sir John Moore and the funds that are available through the Niigaan Gdizhaami Fund. Thank you to everyone that worked together to make today a success.
The Sir John Moore School Pow Wow is still happening today! Due to the rain, we’re moving the celebration indoors. Guest schools will join us from 10:00 AM–11:30 AM, and Sir John Moore School students will participate from 12:00PM–1:30 PM. We look forward to a meaningful and memorable event!

SJM collected 618 cereal boxes for the 3rd annual Cereal DomINNo Challenge. Thank you to the families of SJM, @Bluewater Foodland and @Chris' No Frills (Corunna) for your generous donations and to @Kyles No Frills (Sarnia) for hosting a cereal box poster contest that helped earn us another 100 boxes and a visit from their banana mascot. Mia was the winner of the contest and earned the red colour house 350 points, helping them secure the most points overall. Mrs. Moran's grade 5/6 class had fun working together to set up all of the cereal boxes through the hallways and then knock them down with the whole school watching. Way to go Sir John Moore for helping to support The Inn Of the Good Shepherd and our community.

This is the last week to send in cereal boxes for our Dom-Inn-O Challenge. Thank you very much to everyone that has already donated. We have collected 335 boxes so far which is very close to our 500 box target. Way to go Knights!
Tomorrow, May 27th, we will be wearing grey to recognize Brain Cancer Awareness Month. We will also be collecting donations, either cash or gift cards, to support Mrs. Young's nephew, Grayson who is battling brain cancer. The family is leaving for Toronto tomorrow where Grayson will have surgery on Thursday. Grayson and his family will remain in hospital in Toronto for a number of weeks before he begins chemotherapy at Sick Kids. Our thoughts are with Mrs. Young, Grayson and his family during this very difficult time. If you are able to help, it is greatly appreciated.
