The Ontario Ministry of Education asks all school boards to conduct anonymous school climate surveys on a regular basis to help schools:

Assess perceptions of safety, mental health, and well-being from students, parents/caregivers, and school staff
Make informed planning decisions to promote safe and inclusive school environments
Evaluate the effectiveness of current programs
Build and sustain a positive school climate
Continue to strengthen parent/guardian voice in school communities
The Lambton Kent District School Board is required to conduct school climate surveys of students, staff, and parents/caregivers at least once every two years, as each group plays a key role in shaping a safe and welcoming school environment.

We invite you, as a parent/caregiver of an LKDSB student, to follow the School Climate Survey link to participate. Your feedback helps us build and sustain a positive school climate within your school community.

🗓️ Survey Dates: Monday, November 24 to Friday, December 5, 2025

Please note that all responses are anonymous and confidential. The results will be used by our Safe Schools team and the Board to guide future planning and support.

Thank you for your time and participation.

We are in urgent need of a host for a grade 10 Spanish girl who is coming to GLSS for 4 months in September. Great Lakes was her first choice for school placement. She is from Madrid, and she is often described as kind, thoughtful and hardworking. She is passionate about basketball. She plays basketball in Spain several times a week. She dreams of trying out for a school team in Canada. Outside of basketball she is also very interested in art, dance, fashion, tennis, volleyball, and skating. Unfortunately, she is allergic to animals which has made finding a placement very challenging. She hopes that her homestay will include her like a family member. We are in urgent need of a host for a grade 11 German girl who is coming to study for 3 months. She dreams of becoming a geneticist so she can use her knowledge to help people with genetic disease. She is very excited to experience nature in Canada. We also have students from the following countries who are interested in Great Lakes Italian girl – 1 semester- Grade 12 - she is described as funny, joyful, curious, determined, independent and brave. She rarely says “no” to new experiences because she always wants to stay positive and try new things. She believes a study abroad experience is perfect for her. Turkish boy- full year- Grade 11- This young man loves all sports, but his favorite are basketball, soccer, and table tennis. He is interested in helping with cooking and learning about family traditions. He dreams of building a strong connection with his homestay family.
