AMSS Students Participate in Transition Day at Lambton College

Students from Alexander Mackenzie Secondary School (AMSS) visited Lambton College today for their Transition Day, marking an important step as they prepare for a temporary relocation during upcoming capital renewal work at their school.

Throughout the visit, students toured the campus, explored the learning spaces they will soon be using, and began familiarizing themselves with the environment that will serve as their educational setting from March to June 2026. The day offered students an opportunity to build confidence, ask questions, and experience firsthand what learning in a post‑secondary environment will look like.

This Transition Day is part of the Lambton Kent District School Board’s (LKDSB) proactive plan to remove and replace Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) roofing at AMSS. To ensure learning continues uninterrupted during this work, students will temporarily relocate to Lambton College.

This partnership provides students with a unique opportunity to engage in hands‑on learning within a post‑secondary setting, access specialized facilities, and experience a college environment that supports future‑focused skill development.

The Lambton Kent District School Board is deeply appreciative of its strong partnership with Lambton College. This collaboration offers AMSS students a meaningful opportunity to learn beyond the traditional classroom and experience the benefits of a college‑based environment. The support and hospitality shown by Lambton College staff play an important role in helping students feel welcomed, prepared, and excited for the months ahead.

This partnership reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to supporting student success, expanding learning pathways, and creating enriching experiences that help students thrive.
