LKDSB Secondary School

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is pleased to share that secondary school open houses held across the district over the last few weeks have seen excellent attendance and enthusiasm from students and families, despite dealing with re-schedules due to less-than-ideal weather conditions. Many Grade 8 students are already making the decision to enroll in their local LKDSB secondary schools—an opportunity that allows them to learn, grow, and get involved right in their hometown communities.

The final open house of the season will take place this Thursday, February 12, at Northern Collegiate Institute & Vocational School (NCIVS) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All Grade 7 and 8 students and their families are welcome to attend.

During the event, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Discover NCIVS’ wide range of clubs, athletics, and extracurricular activities

  • Meet teachers, support staff, and current students

  • Tour the school and explore learning spaces

  • Learn about Grade 9 course selection and program pathways

A special French Immersion presentation will take place at 7:00 p.m. as part of the evening.

“We are excited to welcome our future Vikings,” said NCIVS Principal Melissa Mallette. “Students who attend NCIVS truly love being part of our school community. There is so much to get involved in—academics, clubs, arts, athletics—and we’re proud to offer an environment where every student is known and cared for by name, not a number. The education they receive here is homegrown with care, and we work hard to ensure every student can find their place and thrive.”

Families with questions about the event or registration are encouraged to contact shelley.pretty@lkdsb.net or call the school office at 519‑542‑5545.
