Students from Ms Jacobs’ Ojibwe classes attended a field trip to Anishinaabeg Kinomaagewgamig to join students and staff in exciting land-based activities.
Students took part in zhiishiibenh 🦆 cleaning, smoking giigoonh🐟 over the fire, grinding mndaamin 🌽 in the bootaagan, cooking manoomin (wild rice), and niibiishaaboo (tea) over the fire, all led by Mino Binesii Kwe.
They played traditional dice games led by Bineshiinh Ngama Kwe, and tried out the Anishinaabe style baagaadowewin/lacrosse led by Tyler White.
They connected with the younger students and had a full day of hands on learning. Miigwech AK!❤️

Understanding Fashion students combined their knowledge of the Elements of Design with their lessons on Fibres and Fabrics this week. So much fun seeing their colour schemes coming to life on cotton!

A huge shout out to our Tartan Team, champions of the 3rd Annual Science Olympics! 🥳 Today's board-wide competition was filled with hands-on science challenges, across various disciplines, and they absolutely crushed it. Go Tartans!🏆👏

Students from Mr. O'Neil's Standing Bear, Entrepreneurship classes, and Future Elders groups led by Tyler White, Robin Isaac, and Ms. Jacobs participated in a multi-location field trip to enrich their understanding of marketing, leadership, and First Nations, Métis, Inuit art and culture. The trip included visits to the ROM and AGO to study art and culture, the Eaton Centre for market analysis, and Activate for a series of immersive leadership and team building experiences.

The Raising Healthy Children class has been learning about the value of reading with children. We went to The Family Centre to experience it firsthand. The little ones were thrilled to have the teens visit.

🎉 Plaid Peers Eggstravaganza Success! 🎉
It was the "Plaid Peers Egg Drop Challenge" today! Our Grade 9 students collaborated in groups to tackle an exciting engineering challenge: create a structure to protect a raw egg dropped from the high gym balcony. We saw incredible ingenuity and fantastic application of teamwork strategies. Did the eggs survive? You bet some did! 🥚

Congratulations are in order for the Grades 7/8 Volleyball Team! They finished their incredible season as the Play-off Runners-Up! 🥈

Fall clean-up in full swing! Our Horticulture students trading their tools for rakes today, helping elderly neighbors tackle those big leaf piles. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication to our community! 🍂

A wonderful day of learning outside the classroom! Our Grade 8 students had a meaningful visit to the Wallaceburg Museum where they paid their respects at the local Veteran Memorial. They also worked together on a scavenger hunt, discovering unique artifacts and collective pieces that highlight Wallaceburg's rich past. 📜 Thank you to the museum staff for hosting us!

What an incredible two days of hands-on learning for our OYAP Tartans! 🤩
A huge shout-out to the students who thrived in the Women in the Trades Bootcamp! They gained valuable experience in tool/mould-making, prototyping, R&D, and worked with CAD/CAM software and a tabletop CNC milling machine.
Other Tartans dove into a practical Plumbing/Gas Fitter Workshop, mastering everything from cutting and threading pipes to collaborating on team snorkels. Every moment was a new skill unlocked! 🔩🔧
