Our Grade 6 students had an incredible time diving into hands-on learning during tech innovation day at John McGregor! From the auto shop to the kitchen, our students explored the endless possibilities of a career in the trades.
Highlights of the day included:
Electrical: wiring switches to light up the room💡
Transportation: getting under the hood to practice tire changes🛞
Manufacturing: creating custom sheet metal phone holders📱
Cosmetology: mastering the art of the perfect braid💇
Culinary: whipping up delicious handmade pizzas🍕
It was inspiring to see their creativity and skills grow in real time. We can't wait to see where their future lies!

We are incredibly proud of our ongoing partnership with John McGregor Secondary School! A massive thank you to Mr. Stonehouse and his talented students for breathing new life into our Kindergarten tricycle fleet.
After years of well-loved use, these "sets of wheels" were in need of some expert care. The JMSS team took this on as a real-world challenge—researching cost-effective restoration methods and applying classroom technical skills to a practical community project. Thanks to their ingenuity and hard work, our youngest learners will soon be cruising the playground on safely refurbished, stylish rides.

Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!

The Craft, Cocoa and Cookies Stay & Play was a huge hit today in our Kindergarten rooms.
Families were invited in to participate in literacy and craft activities with their children, while enjoying some yummy treats.

Everyone had a spectacular day at Sloan's today!
The weather was perfect, there was snow for sliding, the fires were lit to perfect marshmallow roasting temperature and the smiles were huge.

All buses are cancelled today. Please take care if walking to school as sidewalks are slippery.
Today's trips to JMSS and the Milner House are cancelled - classes will continue as normal.

Loved having the JMSS concert band in the Lion's Den this morning!
The performance was outstanding, engaging and entertaining!

Grade 5 students enjoyed learning about the principles of engineering by building trusses with a group of retired engineers through the Science Ed Partnership.
The best part was testing the structural stability of their truss by measuring how much load each one could take before snapping!

Our Grade 6's had a great afternoon with Mr O, our Technology Special Projects Teacher, in preparation for Tech Innovation Day next week. They learned about OYAP, SHSM, shop safety and the best part was working together to make a Cobra Weave Stick Bomb!
They also had the chance to spend some time with Mr Wood from JMSS, building their relationship with their future high school.

SUPER proud of our Gr 3/4 classes on their creation for the Merry Magic Gingerbread Village contest.
Thank you to everyone who voted for our entry - your generosity and support brought us the Silver Medal and a generous contribution to the Goodfellows "No Child Without a Christmas" campaign.

Grade 7 & 8 Lions - mark your calendars!

Field trip days are the best days!
Everyone is so excited to head to the Merry Magic event, in support of Noelle's Gift.

Many thanks to @KiwanisCK and @StaplesCanada for helping our students be prepared for school. We are grateful to have been chosen this year for the opportunity to shop for our students.
Way to go Lions! So proud of our Sr Girls on their Conference win! After going undefeated all season, they defeated Winston Churchill 3-1. A giant thank you to our coaches for giving their time to this amazing group. We appreciate you. And also much gratitude to the best cheering section a school could ask for.

Visit the Merry Magic event at Link of Kent between now and Nov 28 to vote for the Victor Lauriston's "It Takes a Village to Raise a Child" gingerbread house.
Ballots are $1 each, with proceeds going to Noelle's Gift - a charity that gives back to our school every day, through the donation of food, hygiene products, clothes and other materials students need to succeed at school.

We love seeing our students earn a 0, in fact, we're so excited about it that we rewarded all of our students who have achieved a 0.
What?!?
Congratulations to all of our students who have 0 days absent so far this year. We can't wait to see how many more there will be next month🍩

Today's Remembrance Day service was a beautiful tribute to honour Canada's soldiers and peacekeepers. Our students led and participated in the service with respect, reverence and gratitude.
Making it even more personal and significant was the display of student artwork all around the gym.
