The grade 11 students in Mrs. Peel's two NBE3C classes were thrilled to be able to meet the Isaac's and learn about Indigenous world views and identity.
It was our honour to host a Powwow Dance Demonstration from Bkejwanong community members, Mike, Nikki and Tyler Dashner, who are well-known powwow dancers across Turtle Island. We learned about powwow culture and dancing, the significance of dance regalia and styles, and about their stories of experiences at powwow demonstrations.
🎣 Grade 9 Geographers dove headfirst into the fascinating world of the Canadian fishing industry today! They went "fishing" navigating the challenges of pollution, the impact of new technology, and even an "invasion" of their waterways.
🌊 It was a hands-on way to understand the complexities faced by this vital industry.
Their learning culminated in collaborative group presentations, where students, acting as their own "fishing crews," shared their insights and proposed solutions for their oceans, lakes and bays.

For the last 3 weeks, Ms Barr’s Pawsitive Panther Leadership class fundraised, recruited and advertised for Light Up the Night for Noelle Run/Walk. With weekly teacher pie in the face events, staff and students supported this great cause. Mr. Fung was the winner of the final pie in the face this past week. Mr. Rogers and Mr. Barrett dyed their hair pink as they said they would do if our fundraising goal was met. On Friday, the class presented Bryan Cowden, event coordinator for Light Up the Night for Noelle, with a cheque. Our leadership class fundraised a grand total of $1254.80. On Friday night, staff and students from JMSS participated in the walk and run. Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a memorable and exciting event. GO PANTHERS!

Ms. Barr’s grade 12 Leadership class continues to advertise, recruit and fundraise for Light Up the Night for Noelle. So far, the class has raised $798.40 and we have one more week to go!

Tough first game for the JMSS Girls Soccer team, but their spirits remained high! They celebrated their first goal of the season and gained valuable experience with many players having their very first soccer game.

Today marked the hilarious highlight of spirit week as staff and students embraced "Twin Tuesday," arriving in perfectly synchronized outfits with their chosen partners.

The school hallways transformed into a spectacle of doubles, showcasing creativity and camaraderie. Laughter and photo opportunities were around every corner as we spent most of the day adjusting our eyes!
JMSS RetroFest also featured a costume contest. We had a fabulous response from both staff and students for our Retro Spirit Day. Even Mayor Darrin Canniff couldn't miss out on seeing our costumes!

JMSS RetroFest was a huge hit! We had face painting, popcorn sales, fresh candy apples, and over 30 vintage cars!

Grade 9 Geography is starting their learning on Industries in Canada.

Each group is creating a Mind Map of their chosen province and listing the main industries and samples of each.
We had the great pleasure of welcoming one of our Grade 9 students to class today. He brought in artifacts from WWI and WWII to present to our morning history class.
