Our students have been exploring the large Indigenous Peoples Map of Canada, learning about the many Nations, languages, and lands that make up our country.
They’ve been curious, thoughtful, and full of great questions as we talked about treaties and the importance of being treaty people. 🤝

November's Colour House activity is approaching. Don't forget to dress in colour to earn points for your team!

Some ghostly crafts happening in Mme Myers class today. But, no worries, we called the Ghostbusters. They ain't afraid of no ghosts! 👻

Don't forget your costume tomorrow!

Whether you're a lifelong fan or just hopping on the bandwagon, everyone’s invited to celebrate our Toronto Blue Jays in style! ⚾

Sting Player Visit (Post 2 of 2)

We were thrilled to welcome players from the Sarnia Sting to our school for an inspiring visit that left a lasting impact on our students. Through personal stories, they encouraged students to persevere through challenges, treat others with kindness, and embrace diversity both on and off the ice. Their message was clear: success isn’t just about talent—it’s about character, teamwork, and lifting each other up.
Thank you to the Sarnia Sting for being such positive role models and for taking the time to connect with our students. Your visit reminded us all that leadership and sportsmanship go hand in hand. Merci to Mme Davis for organizing this event and to Mr. Triest for being the MC.

Our Grade 2 students did a phenomenal job singing the National Anthem at the Sting game Friday night. Bravo tout le monde! Un grand merci a Mme Davis et Mme Nesbitt.

We had some serious Blue Jay spirit happening today. Go Jays, Go!
WOW! What a showing for Hillcrest at yesterday's Cross Country Meet. Overall, 1st place for our girls and 2nd place for our boys. Good luck at the District Meet to those who will move on.

We are incredibly proud of our amazing cross-country team for their outstanding performance at the Optimist Meet! With determination, teamwork, and true sportsmanship, our runners gave it their all and represented our school with pride.
From the starting line to the final sprint, each athlete showed resilience and heart. Whether it was a personal best, a top finish, or simply the joy of crossing the finish line, every moment was a victory.
👏 Congratulations to all our runners for their hard work and dedication. A special thank you to Mme DeGroot, volunteers, and families for their unwavering support.
Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to inspire each other at next week's meet!

🍁 Colour House Kick-Off! 🎉
Today marked our first Colour House activity of the year — Fall Bingo! 🍂 Students worked together across grades, had fun, and learned some seasonal vocabulary with laughter and teamwork.
This year, we’ve amalgamated our Colour House teams to create even more exciting energy and collaboration. And also new this year— points!🏆
Teams can earn points in two ways:
🎨 By dressing in their team colour
🎯 By participating in the activities
We loved seeing so much spirit and participation today — it’s going to be a great year of friendly competition and school spirit.
Let the games begin! 💛💙❤️💚💜🧡

We had the pleasure of welcoming the OPP Franco cruiser to our school today. Even the officer who gave the presentation spoke in French to our students!

Tomorrow is our first Colour House Day of the year! Remember to show your school spirit and dress in your colour to earn points for your team.

Today, several of our classes had the chance to attend the Water Festival in Chatham — a hands-on learning event all about our most precious resource: water!
Students explored engaging stations, learned how to protect our waterways, discovered how clean water gets to our taps, and even picked up some great tips on conservation and sustainability.
A big thank you to the organizers for helping our students understand the importance of water in our daily lives — and how we can all do our part to take care of it! 💙🌍🚰

Get ready to check your closet and stripe up your style—because Friday is World Plaid Day, and we want to see our school covered in plaid!
Whether it’s a cozy flannel shirt, a funky plaid skirt, or even a bold plaid accessory, show off your creativity and school spirit by wearing your favourite plaid pieces. Let’s celebrate patterns, personality, and positivity!

🧡 **National Day for Truth and Reconciliation** 🧡
Today, we honoured the lives of Indigenous children, families, and communities affected by residential schools. As students and staff, we wore orange to show our support and respect. We participated in meaningful discussions, read powerful books, watched videos, painted as part of an artist-led Truth and Reconciliation activity, and tied ribbons to remember and reflect.
Each experience helped us learn more about the truth of our shared history and the importance of reconciliation. We stand together in respect, reflection, and commitment to a better future.

We are incredibly grateful to our community partners at Kiwanis and Staples for their generous donation of school supplies. Your support ensures that our students have the tools they need to start the year off right and focus on what matters most — learning!
