Our Grade 3/4 classes were given a special opportunity to read with some Bobcats from BDHS. Our students went to the highschool on Friday and were paired with highschool students to read and share their love for literacy! Check out some pictures from the event. A big thanks to the Bobcats for the invitation.

Make sure to don your best green attire today to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at school. You might have a hard time remembering this happening as it's not often when school is in session, most often this happens during March Break.

We recognize today as International Women's Day and support the important role that women from all backgrounds play in the world we are in. We also hope that we are helping to foster the next generation of powerful, kind and educated women who will go on to do amazing things.

Attention parents, guardians and HRPS community: Our special food days, specifically Hot Dog day, is in desperate need of volunteers to learn how to plan for and carry out these days into the 2025-2026 school year. We have two Hot Dog days left this school year, Monday March 3rd and Monday, April 7th. If you or someone you know, would be interested and willing to learn the ropes and take over that responsibility in the fall, we will be able to continue to offer this option to students and their families and the school will continue to benefit from the funds raised from these days. Without volunteers, the program cannot continue. Contact the school office with any questions!

Beginning at sunset today, the period of Ramadan will begin for Muslim people worldwide. Ramadan is a month long period, ending on Saturday, March 29th, where people participate in fasting, prayer, reflection and community. The end of this period is celebrated as Eid al-Fitr. During that time, children may wear new clothing, special pastries may be baked, gifts can be exchanged, graves of relatives may be visited, and people gather for family meals and to pray in mosques.

Tomorrow is Rare Disease Day. This day is held annually on the last day in February, sometimes on February 29th in a Leap Year, because that is the most rare day on the calendar. This day helps to raise awareness and generate change for the 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease, their families and caregivers. We hope that you will join in this event by wearing blue tomorrow. Blue is chosen as the colour because of blue jeans and the relation to many rare diseases being a gene-based condition.
