Pink Shirt Day is an annual event against bullying held in Canada and New Zealand. Participants wear pink shirts and attend or host informative events to raise awareness about bullying, particularly in schools. Pink Shirt Day was started in 2007 in Canada, where it is held on the last Wednesday of February each year.
We hope to see as many people as possible wearing Pink shirts on Wednesday!

A fun contest put together by the Chatham-Kent Public Library as well as the Rotary club is challenging students to read over the course of 5 weeks.
Since beginning the contest February 3rd, Mrs. Gillett's Grade 6-7 class is currently holding first place for the Intermediate Division. Lets's hope that over the next two weeks, they can maintain their lead and become the winners of Clash of the Classroom!

We want to extend a big congratulations to the Senior Girls Basketball team. On Tuesday after school, they were able to bring home the championship pennant on Ridgetown turf after defeating their girls team! This means that our boys team AND girls team won the Basketball Championships! This makes the whole school proud of the athletes and coaches! Mrs. Gillett was also a coach, but somehow missed the photo with the team and Mr. Jaques.

In French Immersion Kindergarten today, our learning for Black History Month focused on love and acceptance for all.
Today, we read a story called "Plus que la couleur pêche", which is a story about raising students' awareness that skin comes in many beautiful colours. Based on the true story of crayon activist and entrepreneur Bellen Woodard, the children learned that young people can have a BIG impact on the world. Bellen's goal with this story is to "help kids be more understanding of each other". Today, we drew portraits of ourselves, our families and friends using so many more colours than just peach. We are all unique and beautiful!

Our students loved having the chance to dress up in their best for Formal Friday! Check out some of the best dressed around...

🌟 Celebrating Black History Month at LKDSB 🌟
Every February, we reflect on the incredible achievements and contributions of Black Canadians. But at LKDSB, we believe in celebrating Black history year-round. Our educators bring Black history, voices, and perspectives into classrooms every day, fostering understanding and respect for the cultural contributions that have shaped our world.
This February, join us as we shine a spotlight on events, lessons, and activities across our Board to honour the lasting legacy of Black Canadians. It’s an opportunity for students, families, and communities to learn, celebrate, and be inspired by the remarkable individuals who’ve shaped our past—and continue to shape our future.
We invite you to explore the rich history of Black Canadians, including the powerful stories from our own local communities. Together, let’s build a more inclusive, compassionate, and prosperous Canada, today and every day!✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽

We are all set up and ready for day two of KinderSTARt registration day. Here is hoping we have more families who will be joining us in September come out to register today! We are here from 9am until 3pm.

Good morning parents and guardians,
The LKDSB has some exciting news!
With the recent launch of the refreshed website, we now have a great opportunity to connect more families with the MyLKDSB App! To help spread the word, I have attached a graphic that will help you locate and download the app so that you can stay connected to both the board and the schools your child(ren) attend.
Enjoy the rest of your day!

The temperatures which are forecasted over the next few days are much more cold than what we have been experiencing. As recess time approaches at school, the temperatures are always monitored to ensure whether it is safe to go outside to play or whether we need to have indoor recess time. Getting to and from school, including taking the bus, can be very cold, especially for our youngest students. Make sure that everyone is wearing well fitting winter clothing and footwear to ensure they stay warm and safe.
