Please join us on Wednesday September 13th for a Grade 9 parent information session.
During this event you will learn about the school, your students' courses and meet this semester teachers.
We will be offering two parent workshops to help you navigate your students high school journey as part of the evenings event.
Each workshop will be offered twice to allow you to attend both if you desire.
Workshop One – Outcome Based Assessment.
Location Library – 6:00 P.M & 6:30 P.M
This workshop will help you to familiarize yourself with OBA. This is a form of assessment that you will be seeing throughout your student's secondary career on various assignments and reports. Brian McBain a consultant from LKDSB will be presenting on this topic and give you an explanation of how this works and what you can expect to see as well as answer any questions that you may have.
Workshop Two – Student Well-Being-Here to Help
Location – Rm# 120 – 6:00 P.M & 6:30 P.M
Come and learn about mental health and well-being supports within the LKDSB. Shikara Howes, Social worker at NCIVS, and Tracey Palombo, Mental Health, and Addiction Nurse, will speak about supports at the LKDSB and explain how students of Northern can access mental health support."
The evening will start formally at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria for brief introductions and an overview of the event.
You will then travel to each of your students' classes where you will spend 10 minutes learning about the course and meeting the teacher.
Please bring your students timetables with you to this event.
