Plympton-Wyoming Public School is located centrally in the community of Wyoming. The school is a consolidated school consisting of the former South Plympton Central Public School (JK-Grade 3) which closed in June 2018 and Wyoming Public School (Grade 4-8). The school has one full time principal and includes a centralized class for children with developmental challenges. Although most of the children who access our Alternative Learning and Life Skills Program (ALLP) are not from our school catchment area, they are an integral part of our school community, participating in daily programs and activities.
A very supportive School Council serves in an advisory capacity. They are supporters of school programs and initiatives aimed at providing the best school programs for the students in our school. Parents/guardians are welcome and frequent visitors to our school and donate many volunteer hours, strengthening the home and school support system. The Plympton-Wyoming school community includes a rural farming area on the outskirts of the town of Plympton-Wyoming and the town area itself. It borders the large industrialized city of Sarnia as well as the somewhat smaller, but currently growing, town of Petrolia. Some of our students walk to school, and some are also bused.
The Plympton-Wyoming P.S. staff
bring to our school a variety of teaching and personal experiences and expertise that provide challenges and opportunities for our students. They show great enthusiasm planning engaging lessons for their students, as well as offering age-appropriate extra-curricular activities.
The school grounds have been well developed with the cooperation of community groups and the school board. Play equipment, soccer pitches and baseball diamonds are well used during and during school hours.
