Dear Kinnwood Staff, Students, and Families,

My name is Lisa Thomson and it is my honour and privilege to introduce myself to the Kinnwood School community as your newly appointed Principal, effective December 24, 2022.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to overlap with Mr. Hayward, starting December 12, in order to make the best transition possible. 

I am grateful to work in the vibrant community of Forest.  I understand that with new beginnings there is often a level of uncertainly and I look forward to building strong collaborative relationships with the students, families, and staff as we embark on a new learning journey together.  Working together to support student growth, achievement, and well-being is my top priority.

My experience as an educator includes working at the Calgary Board of Education for over 17 years with various roles including Principal, Vice-Principal, Mental Health and Well-Being Specialist, Gifted and Talented Learning Leader, Resource, Special Education teacher, and Elementary teacher.  My most recent role has been learning all about the LKDSB as VP at Rosedale School.

On a personal note, I grew up in Leamington, Ontario.  I moved out West to further my education and pursue my teaching career and ended up staying in Calgary for 20 years!  My husband and I decided to move back to Ontario with our daughter to be closer to family. We are thrilled with our choice to be back home… and to be close to the water again!
