The month of June is nationally recognized as Pride Month in Canada. In accordance with the Ministry of Education's commitment to student achievement and well-being, the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is joining school boards throughout the province in supporting the LGBTQ+ community with the display of the Pride flag from June 3-7.
Moving forward, LKDSB schools and education centres will display the rainbow flag for the first week during the month of June. Rainbow flags will be provided to schools and education centres for display in a respectful manner that is appropriate for the school or Board location, which could include displaying the flag inside the school or on the flag pole.
The LKDSB believes a safe and caring learning environment is strengthened by embracing diversity, and respecting self, others and the world around us. Through the display of the Pride flag in June, the LKDSB is demonstrating support of diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as the safety and well-being of all students, staff, parents/guardians and community members.
