Picture Day Oct 13

Student Leadership Team presents

Orange Shirt Day is more than a date on the calendar for our Thamesville team-it’s a commitment to active reconciliation. 🧡✨ Wearing orange today is a symbol of our shared responsibility to honor the legacy of Indigenous residential school survivors, recognize the ongoing impacts, and build a more inclusive, respectful future together. We stand united in remembering that Every Child Matters. 🧡

Big thanks to LaSertoma for their incredible generosity! 🍎✨ Thanks to their donation, our snack program is well-stocked and ready to keep our kids fueled, focused, and ready to learn. Community support like this makes all the difference! 🐅

Jason Simon shared his personal story of growing up on Aamjiwnaang First Nation with a learning disability at TACS last week. Guided by the wisdom of his grandmother, a residential school survivor, he learned the 7 Grandfather Teachings and the unwavering belief that with dedication and a focused mindset, any goal is within reach. Jason's journey to the NHL is a powerful story of resilience, proving that hard work can overcome even the most daunting odds. Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange shirts on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in recognition of Orange Shirt Day. Wearing orange is a visible demonstration of support for reconciliation and serves as a reminder that Every Child Matters. Flags at all LKDSB schools and facilities will be lowered on this day

🏅 HISTORY IN MOTION
The starter’s horn sounded at Great Lakes Secondary School—and with it, a new LKDSB tradition was born.
For the first time, 531 elementary student athletes from across our entire bard came together for a unified Track & Field Meet— with representation stretching from Wheatley to Grand Bend.
From powerful sprints to soaring jumps and electrifying relays, the day was filled with determination, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments. Even more impactful? Students competing alongside peers they’d never met before, building connections that reached far beyond the finish line.
This wasn’t just a meet—it was the beginning of something bigger for LKDSB students.
