Last night our mighty Girls soccer team did battle with the LCCVI Lancers in the LKSSAA championship. Our Eagles put in a full team effort from start to finish, with all players showing grit, determination and a relentless work ethic. Sammie L would open the scoring in the first half but the Lancers would score mid way through the second half and push the game to overtime. This is where the Eagles turned their game up. Lainie R would score in the first minute of overtime, Kylee B would score shortly after and Ally R would finish the Lancers off with the third Eagle goal in overtime. Final score Eagles 4 Lancers 1. Brookelynn M played an amazing game in goal, stopping a penalty shot and making many other big saves and kicks. Sofia O, Emmalee G and Julia L had stellar games in the midfield, controlling the pace of the game. Congrats to all the players and coaches for winning their division and moving on to SWOSSAA!

Theland Kicknosway, and members of their dance team were in this week to NLSS to perform some hoop dancing and to discuss traditional Indigenous ceremony, songs, and dance. Students were able to volunteer to try their feet at hoop dancing (even Mr. Eberlin tried it out). Theland at the end entertained the students by doing a Hoop Dance in the dark with LED hoops. Theland Kicknosway is an Indigenous youth who uses his voice to spread his message and showcase Indigenous culture. He is Wolf Clan from the Potawatomi and Cree Nations and is a member of Walpole Island, Bkejwanong Territory. Theland has gained recognition in the Indigenous community and worldwide as a traditional singer, drummer, dancer, activist, and influencer. 

Awesome Eagle Day

We hope all our future NLSS Eagles had a great day today! So many of our Grade 8s packed the gym, the cafeteria and our outdoor spaces to meet new peers and to get to know the staff and school. Students had lunch in the cafeteria and were treated to our NLSS Rock band that gave renditions of Radioactive and Courage by the Tragically Hip - even some of our staff joined in. Can't wait to see everyone in September!

Over the past two days your Eagles battled the frigid winds coming off Lake Huron down in Sarnia to compete in the LKSSAA track and field championships. We had some great results considering it was some of the hardest conditions we’ve competed in all year. Qualifying for SWOSSAA championships down in Windsor next week are Maycie C, Jocelyn F, Hailey R, Arlee R, Stevie S, Josh S, Ellyot S, Skyla W, Colten P, Ben W, Aerie R, Rachel A, Madi U, Matt P and Jack W
.
It should be noted that Josh S broke the 800 metre record by a full 3 seconds, Congratulations to him as he moves on.
And lastly it should also be pointed out that it’s been over a decade since North Lambton has had a Overall Champion amidst it’s ranks. Big Congratulations go to Arlee R who finished with first place finishes in the 400M and 800M and a second place finish in the 1500M to capture the Novice Girls Individual Championship. So again this is a huge accomplishment, Way to go ARLEE!!!

NLSS would like to thank Jackpot Time for their assistance with our Rugby Team, allowing them opportunities to participate in their tournament in London. Thank you again!

On Friday, May 15th, NLSS will be hosting our Awesome Eagle Day for our many feeder schools. Students in Grade 8 that are looking to attend NLSS in the Fall of 2026 are invited to participate in the day.

Some of our NLSS students travelled to Kettle Point today to take part in the Kettle & Stony Point First Nations Symposium. Students were able to participate in playing and learning the game of Lacrosse, learning about weaving, the history of Kettle & Stony Point and the local areas, the creation of treaties and their importance, cultural identity, and art.

Thanks to our Civics/Careers class and members of our Key Club for participating in a Spring Cleanup of the school and surrounding Forest Community!

Our NLSS Eagles travelled to East Lambton Elementary School in Watford today to work with students there to introduce them to different Art activities. Thanks for being a great host!

Students are encouraged to sign up in the library to compete in the Smash Bros Tournament at the end of May.

A big "Thank You" to the Forest Optimist Club for their donation to the NLSS Tech Department to purchase tools.

Midterm Reports will be going home today for all students. These reports indicate the midterm mark, comments, and learning skills for students in each of their classes. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns.

It was Tractor Day last week!!

SHSH Agriculture: Our SHSM students traveled to some local businesses and to Dresden this week to work on their Red Seal certificates for SHSM in Agriculture. They were able to spend time at Roeland’s Greenhouse to learn about plant propagation and pest and infection management. Students were able to view the operation and learn more about the horticulture industry here in Forest. They also made their way to Dresden to view the latest technology in the agriculture sector.

Our Grade 11 and 12 leaders returned from Muskoka Woods on Friday. Our students helped out with our feeder school Grade 8 students that will soon be at North Lambton in the fall. Although the weather was a bit cold and muddy, students had a good time. Mrs. Sanders and Officer J9 had great reports to bring back about our students and their leadership skills.

Hopefully this event helps our Grade 8s to look forward to highschool next year!

Our NLSS Ringette team travelled to Goderich last week to play in a tournament. The girls won two and tied one up. It was a successful first year for our girls as they put the team together to take on other schools outside our area.

Relay for Life

NLSS students attended a Relay Rally assembly on Thursday to learn about the Relay for Life fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society that is happening on Fri. May 29, starting at 12pm on the NLSS track.
Students received a yellow permission form that needs to be completed if they wish to participate. They can also register online at www.relayforlife.ca/northlambton or use the QR code.

There is a $20 registration fee (provides a t-shirt and supper at the event) - this can be paid with cash when they bring in their form or it also be paid with their online registration. Participants are asked to make a goal of raising $100 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Good Morning NLSS Families. We have recently had a power outage at the school that has also impacted many homes and businesses across the community. The power is back on now at the school and we are continuing with our day!

Our NLSS Wrestling Program would like to thank Jackpot Time for their assistance with our OFSSAA Wrestling Athletes. The athletes had tremendous success and enjoyed their experiences.

Our Music Department put on a great show last night at the Kineto Theatre. The band played many songs from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park etc. The Kineto Theatre played clips of the movies as the students played the theme songs. What a great venue and fantastic performances by all. Thanks to all of our guests that raised $700 toward our Music Department for instrument repairs and music supplies for the band. Thanks to Mr. MacDougall and to Mrs. Sheffield for conducting the band and putting the night together. Thanks also to the staff at the Kineto Theatre for hosting the event.
