Friday, October 10th
LKDSB staff will participate in professional learning activities for the day. There is no school for students.
Monday, October 13th is Thanksgiving.
School resumes on Tuesday.
Have a phenomenal weekend!

Don't forget our ribbon campaign! Some classrooms have decorated their ribbons in class while others were sent home with students to complete and then return to school. Please return ribbons to school once completed.
The King George Junior Girls Volleyball team powered through 7 games. From big serves to awesome rallies, they brought energy and team spirit to each game. Way to go Kings!
Chris and Allanah, radio hosts from CKSY, joined us as our Mystery Readers. Chris and Allanah shared important parts about their jobs and read, "Goodnight Canada," and, "Don't Let the Pidgeon Ride the Bus."
Make sure to tune into CKSY this week on the radio to hear our students.
Our Kindergarten Mystery Reader program invites special guests to surprise classes by reading a story. It's always exciting to see who will walk through the door.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we are inviting our students to participate in a few meaningful activities to show support for those affected by cancer.
We encourage students to bring in optional financial donations between Monday, October 20th and Thursday, October 24th. Every contribution helps support vital research and patient care.
Our week of awareness will culminate on Friday, October 24th when we invite everyone to wear pink in solidarity with breast cancer fighters and survivors!
We are also sending home ribbons with all students in the next day or so. We ask that your child colour or decorate their ribbon. They are welcome to write the name of a loved one who has been affected by cancer. Please have them return the ribbon to school next week so we can display them all together in a powerful show of community support.
Thank you for helping us raise awareness and ensuring we teach our students the importance of empathy and support.
With thanks,
The KG Team!

The 4th Annual Merry Magic Fundraising Event will take place from November 12 to 30, 2025, at the spectacular Links of Kent Golf Club & Event Centre, bringing the community together under this year’s inspiring theme: Hope for the Holidays.
Hosted by Merry Magic, the event continues its tradition of raising funds to support children and youth across Chatham-Kent. This year’s primary beneficiary is Noelle’s Gift to Children, whose mission, an organization that directly supports students in both the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) and the St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB). Funds will also support The Chatham Goodfellows in their annual holiday campaign.
“Noelle's Gift to Children is honoured to be a beneficiary of this amazing event,” says founder Lynn Paquette. “The Christmas season was one of Noelle's favourite holidays, so this event perfectly aligns with her legacy of giving.”
The Merry Magic team has curated an incredible itinerary with something for everyone—including the beloved Merry Mingle, where guests can browse and bid on magical tree setups while enjoying appetizers from local chefs; a Senior’s Holiday Tea, Gingerbread House Contest, Breakfast with Santa, and much more.
Over the past three years, Merry Magic has seen remarkable growth in sponsorships, attendance, and community engagement. With new and exciting ways to donate—alongside the much-loved tree sponsorships and raffle—this year’s event promises to be the most impactful yet, ensuring a joyful and meaningful holiday season for children across the region.
“Merry Magic is a beautiful example of community generosity in action,” says Gary Girardi, Director of Education for LKDSB. “The impact that Noelle’s Gift to Children has on students across Chatham-Kent is profound. We are deeply grateful that Merry Magic has chosen Noelle’s Gift as this year’s primary beneficiary—this support will directly improve the lives of countless students and families.”
“The generosity and support for our students through Noelle’s Gift is life-changing,” adds Lisa Demers, Director of Education for SCCDSB. “We are so pleased that our students will continue to benefit from this collaboration between Merry Magic and Noelle’s Gift to provide necessities that support student success.”
The public is warmly invited to attend and take part in the festivities. Together, we can make this a magical year for children in our community.

The Lambton Kent District School Board will commemorate the impact of residential schools on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 – Orange Shirt Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange shirts and use this day as a catalyst to encourage learning and understanding about the residential school system and the impacts that system has had on First Nations, Metis and Inuit people. This is a meaningful way as school communities to come together in a spirit of reconciliation and hope because “Every Child Matters”.
A reminder that orange shirts are available for order by interested staff and students from Team Outfitters, a company in Sarnia. Outfitters has created an online store for LKDSB orders, therefore staff and families can submit payment online directly to Screenart.
