You are cordially invited to the King George VI gymnasium to watch Mrs. Fryer’s Grade 3/4 Class, Mrs. Pereira’s Grade 4 Class, and Mrs. Laird’s and Mrs. Perini’s Grade 5 class in Star Bucks: The Musical.

Performances take place on Tuesday, December 16th. Our parent performance begins promptly at 2:00. If you plan to attend, we ask that you arrive no earlier than 1:40 as students are still on the yard for recess until this time. Seats do fill up fast so please plan accordingly.

For families that have children in the musical, please make sure your child is on time for school on December 16th as they have a morning performance/run-through for the school.

Please note that only the three classes mentioned above are performers in the play.

(Note: Parents are not allowed to stay for the morning performance.)

Synopsis: Santa is preparing for his annual trip around the world, led by Rudolph and the other reindeer. But wait! Rudolph is stressed out that his nose will not shine. He needs a sabbatical! Who can take his place? Well, Santa hosts a musical competition (like Dancing With The Stars) to find out who will have the chance to be the next Star Buck and lead the sleigh for their epic journey around the world.

We look forward to celebrating the holiday season with a festive performance!

Tomorrow, December 5th, is our school-wide field trip to Sloan's Village.

Please ensure your child(ren) arrive on time to school and that they are dressed to be outside for the day. This is a rain or shine event - plan accordingly.

It is recommended that students bring easy-to-eat snacks and lunch items, dress in layers, wear warm socks/footwear, and wear clothing that is easy for younger students to get in and out of when using the washroom. Extra mittens and hats are highly recommended.

If you are a designated chaperone for the trip, please make sure you pick up your chaperone admission pass when dropping your child off at school in the morning. This will prevent confusion at the entrance to Sloan's once students arrive. Your pass must be attached to your coat/jacket to gain entry into the Village. Please see your child's teacher for more details.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This Friday, December 5th is our school-wide trip to Sloan's Village.

Please note that the entire staff and student body will attend this trip. As such, if your child is late or not attending the Sloan's trip, there will be no one at the school on Friday while we are away. It is paramount that those attending arrive on time for school this Friday, as we aim to promptly leave once attendance is taken and buses arrive.

For chaperones, the classroom teacher should have reached out to you by now to inform you that you are supervising a group of students for the day. We ask that, on Friday morning, you arrive at school to check in with the classroom teacher and to pick up your admission ticket. This will ensure that our chaperones are clearly designated as such upon your arrival at Sloan's. Students have their own admission tickets. If you are driving your child to Sloan's, please pick up their admission ticket when you pick up your chaperone ticket Friday morning from the classroom teacher.

For parents who are attending, you will need to pay for your admission at the front entrance to Sloan's. Admission is $13. If you are driving your child, again, please check in at the school Friday morning so that your child receives their admission ticket from the classroom teacher. Then, you can drive to Sloan's. This helps with attendance and safe arrivals procedures.

*Please note that chaperones and parent volunteers can car pool together. You may also choose to drive your child, but can only drive your child and not the child of another parent. This is for safety and insurance purposes. Please indicate your intentions with the classroom teacher so there isn't any confusion about attendance or how children are getting to Sloan's.

Lastly, while it can sometimes be a challenge to convince students to wear proper outdoor gear, we cannot stress enough the importance of dressing to be outside for the entire day on Friday. Packing extra hats, mitts, socks, and wearing warm clothing and boots is highly recommended.

The school is buzzing with excitement about our excursion this Friday. We can't thank you enough for your support! It's going to be an exciting event that students will talk about for years to come!

If you have any questions or concerns specific to your child, please contact your child's teacher as soon as possible.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the fall weather turns crisp and we prepare for the winter months ahead, we know that morning routines can become increasingly challenging as it takes a little extra time to get everyone ready and out the door. We sincerely appreciate all your efforts to ensure your child is prepared for their school day.
We are writing today to share a friendly but important reminder about the value of ensuring your child arrives at school on time for the start of the day.
Unfortunately, we've noticed a significant increase in late arrivals recently. Over the course of the last two school days, we observed that more than 20% of our entire school population arrived late on both days. This represents a large number of students missing the critical first moments of their learning day.
We understand that traffic, weather, and unexpected hiccups can occasionally cause delays. However, consistently late arrivals, even by a few minutes, can have an accumulative impact on a student's success and confidence.
Arriving on time offers several key benefits that set your child up for a great day:
Smooth Transition: The time just before the bell (usually 5-10 minutes) is crucial for a smooth transition from home to school. It allows students to mentally prepare for the day without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
Academic Success: When students are late, they miss important instructions, announcements, and the introduction to the first lesson. Playing catch-up can be stressful and disruptive, setting a less-than-ideal tone for the rest of their learning.
Social and Emotional Connection: The time before the first bell is when students often engage in valuable socialization. This connection with peers and teachers helps build a positive classroom community and fosters a sense of belonging, which is vital for a child's overall well-being.
We know that getting out the door takes longer as winter approaches, with coats, boots, hats, and gloves adding minutes to the routine. We encourage you to start planning now by:
Establishing a consistent bedtime to ensure your child is well-rested.
Preparing lunches and packing backpacks the night before.
Setting a morning alarm slightly earlier to account for cold weather dressing.
We are here to partner with you to support your child's success. Please help us by reinforcing the importance of punctuality at home and ensuring your child is ready to enter the classroom on time.
Thank you for your understanding and continued commitment to your child's education.
