JMSS students showed their skills today at the Smash Bros. Tournament hosted by CKSS! Three of our players came out victorious in their individual consolation matches. Fantastic job, team—keep up the great work! 🎮👏
🌱👩🔬👨🔬 HUGE SUCCESS in Mrs. Smith & Miss Regts' science class! Our little plant experiment that started in the greenhouse MONTHS AGO has EXPLODED with growth after transplanting into the garden boxes out in the courtyard.
🥗 We've got lettuce, red onion, carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, peas, and (drumroll please) PUMPKINS galore! 🎃

Grade 11 Visual Arts Students created these outstanding paintings for RetroFest this weekend. We are beyond grateful to the Historic Downtown Chatham BIA and multiple local businesses who volunteered to support our young artists. This is such an incredible collaboration between JMSS and the Chatham community. Check out these pieces this weekend at RetroFest!
We had the Holodomor National Awareness mobile classroom visit JMSS today. Our history students participated in a lesson and activity delivered by the experts on this topic. We watched, listened and learned through primary documents, witness testimonials and more.
"The Holodomor, also known as the Ukrainian Famine, was a mass famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians"
However, learning both sides of the story is the key to finding the truth. It was a 'death by starvation' inflicted on the people of Ukraine by Joseph Stalin, and Soviet Union policy. This event is classified as a genocide and should be remembered as such. Awareness of the past is so important in being an ally for human rights issues that continue to plague people and nations around the world.
Final Rocket League Competition today. Unfortunately, JMSS fell short for the win, but what a great season!

Today, our Indigenous Students attended a day of Cultural Learning on Bkejwanong Unceeded Territory (Walpole Island First Nation), alongside other schools in LKDSB.
The students learned about craft making by a local craft store owner, hunting on Walpole Island by trained hunters and guides, the history of Lacrosse and skills workshop, and Powwow Dance Demonstrations by the Dashner Family.

While the scoreboard didn't always go our way, this season was a HUGE victory in so many other ways for our Panthers.

For most of these amazing girls, this was their very first time playing soccer! The growth, teamwork, and effort we saw each week made us incredibly proud. Coaches are beaming, and these players should be too!
Our History class is learning about Black History at the time of Canada's formation and into the 1900s. We have an upcoming field trip available for students to Buxton. We are so lucky to be surrounded by such rich history and people who can share it.

Panthers' Palette 2025 was a huge success! This collaborative celebration of the Arts at JMSS showcases the creativity and resilience of our students.
The debut performance of the JMSS Concert Band was incredibly impressive!
The NTS Drama Performance of "How to Get Away with a Murder Mystery" was hilarious! The hand painted sugar cookies were beautiful and delicious thanks to our Hospitality program. The artwork was inspiring and empowering!
