🗳️ Democracy in Action at Hillcrest! 🗳️
On Monday, students in our Grade 4/5 classes will have the opportunity to participate in a mock municipal election!
This exciting learning experience builds on last week’s presentation from Councillor Chad Hyatt, who highlighted the important role local government plays in our community.
Our students are ready to put their learning into action, explore the voting process, and experience firsthand how citizens can have a voice in shaping their community! 🇨🇦

💛💙When one of our own faces a tough road, our school family steps up.💛💙
We are launching special edition "Dragons Fight Together" t-shirts to support a student during an ongoing health struggle. Wearing these shirts is a visible reminder that no Dragon ever fights alone. Available online at Team Outfitters.

Yesterday, students in all grades participated in bus safety training with Buster the bus and practised an emergency evacuation. 🚌

We will have our first Colour House activity of the year on Thursday. We're playing B-I-N-G-O to build our fall-themed French vocabulary. Student colours have not changed since last year. Dress in your colour and earn points for your colour house!

Students in Ms. Cumming's Gr.4/5 class engaged in a fun detective math lesson today. As they circulated around the crime scene solving place value problems, they received clues in order to determine who the culprit was. It was an engaging way to learn about place value. 🕵️

Come on, Dragons! Let's see your school spirit for the first spirit day of the year!

Were you at the Sting game last night?🐝 If not, you missed out on hearing this crew sing the national anthem. 🇨🇦What a great job they did! Merci à Mme Davis for leading this opportunity for our students.

Attention all cross country members! If it is raining tomorrow morning then practice is cancelled.

To mark the National Day for Truth and
Reconciliation, students read and reflected on the story Stolen Words by Melanie Florence. Following their discussion, students learned Ojibwe words and created a display symbolizing a meaningful step toward returning language and culture to
Indigenous children.

Same sign, 15 years of immersion magic!
15 years ago, we officially became a single-track French Immersion school. Look closely—you might even recognize a few familiar faces who have been with us since Day 1!
Thank you to all of the educators, families, and students who have made our French immersion journey so special. Here's to 15 years of growing, learning, and thriving together in French!
