🌟 Celebrating Black History Month at LKDSB 🌟
Every February, we reflect on the incredible achievements and contributions of Black Canadians. But at LKDSB, we believe in celebrating Black history year-round. Our educators bring Black history, voices, and perspectives into classrooms every day, fostering understanding and respect for the cultural contributions that have shaped our world.
This February, join us as we shine a spotlight on events, lessons, and activities across our Board to honour the lasting legacy of Black Canadians. It’s an opportunity for students, families, and communities to learn, celebrate, and be inspired by the remarkable individuals who’ve shaped our past—and continue to shape our future.
We invite you to explore the rich history of Black Canadians, including the powerful stories from our own local communities. Together, let’s build a more inclusive, compassionate, and prosperous Canada, today and every day!✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽

Math is like a sport – you need constant practice and motivation to get better.
🐾We are so very proud of our Cathcart students who took part in this month's Caribou Math Contest. This is our 2nd contest of the year, and we will be having three more before the end of the year. Students do not only compete against students in their own school 🏫but they compete with students from around the world. 🌎
🏅We would like to congratulate our top three students in each division: Claire R., Meron S. and Brock P. for the grade 7/8 division, Libby H., Anish J. and Avery C. for the 5/6 division and Prithvi K, Harry N. and Henry M. for the 3/4 division.
Some of these students were even in the top 3 for the whole school board! A big congratulations goes out to all of our students who took on the challenge of the Caribou Math Contest. We had 78 students participate this month! ❤️

The Cathcart Cougars are in good spirits for the indoor recesses today! 😊❄️
The cold might have kept us inside, but it couldn't keep these junior/intermediate students from having fun! - from art🎨, to games🃏, to building🏗️... our Cougars are engaged! 🐾
I wonder what we'll be up to tomorrow... 💭
