🏅 HISTORY IN MOTION
The starter’s horn sounded at Great Lakes Secondary School—and with it, a new LKDSB tradition was born.
For the first time, 531 elementary student athletes from across our entire bard came together for a unified Track & Field Meet— with representation stretching from Wheatley to Grand Bend.
From powerful sprints to soaring jumps and electrifying relays, the day was filled with determination, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments. Even more impactful? Students competing alongside peers they’d never met before, building connections that reached far beyond the finish line.
This wasn’t just a meet—it was the beginning of something bigger for LKDSB students.

Friendly Reminder: Friday, June 5th is a PA Day across all Lambton Kent District School Board Schools!

This week we welcomed our future Cougar Cubs for one last visit this school year! We are so excited for September 🐾

Our Cougars hit the track and jump pits this week to participate in our track & field event. Congratulations to the winners and well done to all our athletes. Special thanks to our friends at Errol Rd Public School & NCIVS for hosting us. 🐾🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️

French Immersion primary and intermediate students recently participated in a student-led "Veterinarian Day." Following an online Q&A with Dr. France Cyr about the profession, intermediate students acted as "vets" for their primary peers. After learning themed vocabulary, younger students brought in stuffed animals for a check-up. The intermediate student "vets" diagnosed the pets, and students used play materials like bandages and wraps to treat their animals.

Les élèves d’immersion française en primaire et intermédiaire ont récemment participé à une « Journée vétérinaire » animée par les élèves. Après une rencontre virtuelle avec la Dre France Cyr pour découvrir la profession, les élèves de l'intermédiaire ont joué le rôle de vétérinaires pour les plus jeunes. Munis d'un nouveau vocabulaire thématique, les élèves du primaire ont apporté leurs peluches pour une consultation. Les « vétérinaires » ont ensuite proposé des soins, utilisant des pansements et des bandages pour guérir leurs petits patients.

We were buzzing with excitement when Beckham Edwards came to read a book about kindness to students today! He taught us to "stick with kindness" and challenged our Cougars to a 7 Day Kindness Challenge! 🐝🏒📖

This week our Cougars took part in the OSNP Big Crunch, a fun event that celebrates student nutrition and healthy eating. Schools all across the province joined together to take a big crunchy bite of a healthy fruit or vegetable 🍎🍏🍎

Cathcart Champions 🤩 We are so proud of our girl's basketball team for clinching the win this season! Shout out to Mlle Morlog for coaching this winning team 🏀🐾

It was another TERRIFIC day celebrating some of our most resilient cougars with the Sarnia Lambton Golden K Kiwanis! 🤩

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who made our Valentine's Dance Fundraiser a success! Shout out to our Grade 8 students (and their teachers) for organizing and running this sweet event. 💕

This month artists from the VALS (Visiting Artists in Lambton Schools) have been visiting classrooms to share their talents with our students. 🎨🖌️

Cette semaine, les 7e/8e en immersion française ont présenté leurs attractions de Lego Spike Prime aux élèves de jardin et maternelle à la bibliothèque. Leurs créations bougeaient et jouaient de la musique. C'était une journée merveilleuse à la foire!

This week, French Immersion students shared their Lego Spike Prime fair attractions with FDK students in the Learning Commons. Each Lego creation moved and played music. It was a great day at the fair!  🎡

Thursday night we welcomed future cougar cubs to our school community! Thank you to our staff and student leadership team for making this FDK registration a great night! If you missed us, don't worry, you can join us again Jan 30, April 1 and May 27 🐾

Today our Grade 7 students enjoyed a "Taste of the Trades" at the Tech Ed Hub at AMSS! Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible. 💇🏽‍♀️👩🏼‍🔧👨🏽‍🍳
