Starting in September 2025, the Technological Education Hub at AMSS will provide students in Grade 10-12 the opportunity to experience specialized, immersive, hands-on learning opportunities across a variety of high demand sectors. Please follow the links below for more information.

Grade 10 students with an interest in skilled trades have the opportunity to explore two technology courses from the list above and an elective of their choice from the AMSS course calendar. In addition to providing students with exposure to skilled trades, AMSS will provide all compulsory Grade 10 courses in Math, English, Science, History and Civics/Careers at both the Applied and Locally Developed levels.

Grade 11 and 12 students will participate in the Specialist High Skills Major Program (SHSM) allowing them to tailor their education to one of the sectors above. The SHSM program provides opportunities to take focused courses, develop specialized skills and earn industry recognized certifications, preparing students for future careers in their chosen fields. AMSS will provide students with all compulsory Grade 11 and 12 courses at both the College and Workplace levels.

The Technological Education Hub at AMSS provides:

• Double Credit Course Bundles - Provides Grade 11 and 12 students an immersive learning experience, allowing them to spend an entire morning or afternoon in their chosen trade. This extended time ensures deeper skill development and hands-on learning opportunities preparing students for success in their specialized field.
  

• State-of-the-art facilities designed to provide hands-on learning experiences including:

  • Two greenhouses for horticulture and landscaping

  • A construction workspace built for large-scale projects

  • An indoor project-based sandbox for construction, horticulture and landscaping practice as
    used in industry

  • A commercial kitchen for hospitality courses

  • A salon for students interested in hairstyling and aesthetics

  • A dedicated academic and clinical space for the Personal Support Worker Program
    

• Math and English courses designed to support students in the skilled trades by focusing on practical, trade-related applications
  

• Cooperative Education placements in related fields, giving students the opportunity to apply their classroom learning in real-world work environments
  

• All compulsory (Applied, Locally Developed, College and Workplace levels) and elective courses required to earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
