Technological Education Hub at AMSS
Experience the Skilled Trades
Starting in September 2025, the Technological Education Hub at AMSS will provide students in Grade 10-12 the opportunity to experience specialized, immersive, hands-on learning opportunities across a variety of high demand sectors. Please follow the links below for more information.
Grade 10 Students
Grade 10 students with an interest in skilled trades have the opportunity to explore two technology courses from the list above and an elective of their choice from the AMSS course calendar. In addition to providing students with exposure to skilled trades, AMSS will provide all compulsory Grade 10 courses in Math, English, Science, History and Civics/Careers at both the Applied and Locally Developed levels.
Grade 11 and 12 Students
Grade 11 and 12 students will participate in the Specialist High Skills Major Program (SHSM) allowing them to tailor their education to one of the sectors above. The SHSM program provides opportunities to take focused courses, develop specialized skills and earn industry recognized certifications, preparing students for future careers in their chosen fields. AMSS will provide students with all compulsory Grade 11 and 12 courses at both the College and Workplace levels.

Double Credit Course Bundles - Provides Grade 11 and 12 students an immersive learning experience, allowing them to spend an entire morning or afternoon in their chosen trade. This extended time ensures deeper skill development and hands-on learning opportunities preparing students for success in their specialized field.

An indoor project-based sandbox for construction, horticulture and landscaping practice as

Construction

Culinary
Our commercial kitchen offers a spacious, professional environment where students can develop their culinary skills and gain hands-on experience in preparing a variety of culinary delights.

Hairstyling and Aesthetics
Our hairstyling and aesthetics program provides students with hands-on experience in styling, cutting and colouring. Students practice on both mannequins and peers in an expansive classroom suite that includes 20 hairstyling chairs and multiple sink basins.

Health and Wellness - Personal Support Worker Program
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) program consists of more than 660 hours of theoretical and experiential hands-on learning. Students learn and gain valuable work experience while participating in cooperative education placements in the healthcare field.

Horticulture and Landscaping
Our horticulture and landscaping program provides students with hands-on experience in two fully equipped greenhouses, as well as access to vegetable and garden beds, fruit trees and on-site beehives. Additionally, our dedicated indoor project-based sandbox allows students to develop essential skills in landscape construction including paver stone installation and the construction of decks, steps, fire pits, and more.

Transportation
Our transportation program features five fully equipped car lifts, providing students with hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance. In addition, students will have the opportunity to learn about small engine repair.
