What an inspiring visit! Last week, our Grade 5-8 students at W.J. Baird had the incredible opportunity to hear from Jason Simon of Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
Jason, who grew up on the St. Clair River near Sarnia and played in the NHL, treated students to stories from his journey. He emphasized the power of setting short and long-term goals, and the undeniable truth that putting in the time and work pays off! He also shared a vital message about the importance of resilience. Thank you Jason!

45 Years of Hope! W.J. Baird Griffins are MIGHTY for Terry Fox!
On September 25th, the W.J. Baird Griffins laced up to take part in the 45th anniversary of Terry's Marathon of Hope. Forty-five years later, his courage remains a powerful reminder of how one person can inspire millions.
Our Griffins set a lofty goal this year: to raise a school-record $2,500. And, by showing their support for Terry and for everyone touched by cancer, they absolutely smashed it!
The Griffins raised an incredible $2,800—and that was just the start! We were honoured to receive an additional $500 from our local Giant Tiger store, plus another generous anonymous donation from a community member who matched our initial $500, bringing our grand total to an astounding almost $4,000!
For over 20 years, W.J. Baird has now raised almost $30 000 for the Terry Fox School Run. Our Griffins have shown that while we may be a small school, we are mighty when it comes to Terry Fox.
We are Terry Fox!

W.J. Baird Public School's Grade 5/6 and 6/7 classes enjoyed a day of outdoor learning on Tuesday, September 24, as they took part in the Naturally Neighbours program. This event, hosted by Rondeau Provincial Park at Blenheim's Rotary Park, brought together students from several schools, including Harwich Raleigh and St. Anne's. The day was filled with engaging workshops designed to complement the Grade 6 and 7 biodiversity science curriculum. Students had the chance to build birdhouses, practice nature journaling, learn Indigenous dances, and discover fascinating facts about raptors.
