Dear Families,
This year, our theme is Growing Together: School, Home, and Community, with a focus on “BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS, BUILDING COMMUNITY, and BUILDING CONNECTIONS.”
This theme reflects our belief that when we work together, we create a strong foundation for every student's success. Your commitment to your child’s success is evident in many ways, and it serves as a powerful reminder that education is a collaborative effort. When we work together—communicating openly and supporting one another—we create a positive school culture where every student can thrive. This partnership is the cornerstone of building a safe, inclusive, and vibrant learning environment for all.
Important Reminder: Smoke-Free and Vape-Free School Grounds
We would like to remind all members of our school community that, under the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited:
-On school property, including buildings, playgrounds, fields, and parking lots.
-Within 20 metres of the school grounds, including sidewalks and public areas adjacent to the school.
This includes the use of:
-Tobacco products
-Cannabis (medical or recreational)
-Electronic cigarettes and vapour products
These regulations apply to everyone—students, staff, parents, and visitors—at all times.
📍 Please note: The attached school map highlights (in red) the sidewalks surrounding our school property. These areas are designated as no-smoking zones and fall within the 20-metre restriction outlined in the Act.

As we prepare to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, we invite our school community to join us in wearing orange to honour the experiences of residential school Survivors, their families, and communities.
The LKDSB's orange shirt store, in partnership with Team Outfitters, is now open and accepting orders until September 14.

This year's initiative will also have a direct impact locally, with $5 from every purchase being donated to Delaware First Nation to support educational opportunities and initiatives.

The starter’s horn sounded at Great Lakes Secondary School—and with it, a new LKDSB tradition was born.
For the first time, 531 elementary student athletes from across our entire bard came together for a unified Track & Field Meet— with representation stretching from Wheatley to Grand Bend.
From powerful sprints to soaring jumps and electrifying relays, the day was filled with determination, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments. Even more impactful? Students competing alongside peers they’d never met before, building connections that reached far beyond the finish line.
This wasn’t just a meet—it was the beginning of something bigger for LKDSB students.

Today, the spirit of giving took centre stage at our monthly Terrific Kids assembly. It wasn't just about celebrating our students' accomplishments; it was about showing them the power of community!
We are bursting with pride to announce the results of our annual Santa Shop. Because of the incredible support from our students and families, we were able to present proceeds to two amazing community pillars that are very near and dear to our hearts.
We presented checks for $1,000.00 each to:
