7.      NLSS Girls Basketball:

Last night was the home opener for your girls’ basketball players. LCCVI of Petrolia came into town with something to prove against your Eagles. In the Junior game the Lancers played a back and forth game at the lead changed several times throughout all four quarters. At the final buzzer our girls couldn’t hit some key baskets and they lost 26-21. Lorelei S led the way with 5 points and Olivia B added 4 points.

In the Senior game our girls were frustrated by the Petrolia Lancers stingy defense. With no help from the referees Petrolia was able to inflict their will upon our Eagles which led to many missed baskets. With some sharp shooting from the Lancers they wore down our girls as they fell behind mid way through the third quarter and they were never able to regain the lead they held early in the second half. Our girls fell 50-41 in their first LKSSAA Double AA loss in two years. Leading the way for the Eagles was Alexis W with 14 points and Brooklynn M with  11 points. DON’T WORRY LADIES WE WILL GET THEM NEXT TIME. Wish the Senior Girls good luck this weekend as they head to Walkerton to compete in their first tournament of the season.
