1. Cross Country – Welcome to another Cross Country season. Practice will start today. Please meet in room 181 at 2:30 ready to run. Practice will run Monday to Thursday after school. Coaches: Ms. White, Ms. Pardo, Mr. Petrus
2. Attention all chess players – Please come speak to Mr. Singh if you are interested in joining the chess club this year. The goal is to meet twice a week for games. Let Mr. Singh know if you want to play.
3. Key Club – Did you know that you’re required to complete 40 hours of community service to graduate from high school? Are you looking for ways to earn your community service hours? Perhaps you already completed your community service hours but you enjoy giving back to the school and community. If this interests you, please join us at our first NLSS Key Club meeting on Wednesday, September 16th at the beginning of lunch in room 313 on Third floor (Mrs,. Hoskin)
4. Esports Club – Calling all gamers! Whether you’re a pro or a beginner, come join the Esports club. Matches kick off today in the library! Please be there at the beginning of lunch. If you haven’t signed up yet and want to play, we still have spots available – drop by and let Ms. Herrington or Mr. Medd know you’re in!
5. Book Club – Read to dive into great stories, share your thoughts and discover your next favorite read? The Book Club is kicking off its first meeting on Thursday, September 17th! We will meet once a month to chat about our latest picks. If you want to join the fun and get on the list, go see Ms. Herrington in the library to sign up today!
6. Drama Club will have our first meeting this Wednesday at lunch in the Drama Room (Room 161). Please arrive at 11:15 AM. New members welcome! Please see Ms. Bernardi if you have any questions and are interested in joining.
7. Vocal Connections, also choir, will meet today at lunch in the music room from 11 am to 11:15 to discuss ideas for the year. Bring your lunch and find out all about the CBC music challenge that we will be entering.
8. NLSS Jazz – I Heard it Through the Grapevine that Jazz band will be Dancing in the Street today at lunch as we look at rep for this year. New members are welcome and we are looking for bass and guitar players. Feel free to bring your lunch to the music room, it will be worth it just to hear what a song called Watermelon Man sounds like.
9. This year’s Terry Fox Colour Run will take place on Friday, September 18th, last period. To participate you must purchase a Colour Run shirt for $15 in the main foyer at lunch, starting today. Proceeds from the shirt sales will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation. You must purchase one to participate.
10. Music Clubs – Concert Band will begin rehearsals on Wednesday after school from 2:30 to 4 pm. All grades are invited. We will be preparing for the Forest Fall Fair. Jazz Band normally runs on Tuesday’s at lunch – for this week we will meet on Thursday to look at the music for the year.
11. Rugby 7’s! Rugby 7’s! Men & Women’s Tryouts will start outside this Tuesday & Thursday. Please see Mr. Needham in room 308 to sign up.
12. LEAD (Learn, Evolve & Accept Diversity) will begin meeting next week! LEAD is a safe and welcoming space for 2SLGBTQIA+ students and allies. Come connect, find support, and stand together.
13. Junior and Senior Girls’ Basketball Tryouts – Tryouts for both teams will begin tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday after school this week. They will begin at 2:30 and run until 4:00. Signup sheets are posted outside the girls change room, please add your name. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Sanders or Mr. Willemse.
14. Junior and Senior Boys’ Volleyball Tryouts – Tryouts for both teams will begin today at lunch. If you cannot make it, please let Mr. Eberlin or Mrs. Cundick know.
15. Boys’ Baseball Tryouts – Tryouts for the baseball team will take place today after school from 3:00-4:00 at the baseball diamond across town. If you cannot make it please let Mr. Eberlin or Mr. Medd know.
