1. Cross Country – Welcome to another Cross Country season. Practice will start on Monday, September 14th. Please meet in room 181 at 2:30 ready to run. Practice will run Monday to Thursday after school. Coaches: Ms. White, Ms. Pardo, Mr. Petrus
2. Picture Day is tomorrow, Friday, September 11th.
3. Attention all chess players – Please come speak to Mr. Singh if you are interested in joining the chess club this year. The goal is to meet twice a week for games. Let Mr. Singh know if you want to play.
4. Calling all gamers! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just picking up a controller for the first time, come chat with Ms. Herrington or Mr. Medd if you want to join the Esports Club this year. Matches kick off next Monday, and the plan is to meet twice a week in the library. Drop by and let Ms. Herrington or Mr. Medd know if you’re in!
5. Book Club – Read to dive into great stories, share your thoughts and discover your next favorite read? The Book Club is kicking off its first meeting on Thursday, September 17th! We will meet once a month to chat about our latest picks. If you want to join the fun and get on the list, go see Ms. Herrington in the library to sign up today!
6. NLSS Jazz – I Heard it Through the Grapevine that Jazz band will be Dancing in the Street today at lunch as we look at rep for this year. New members are welcome and we are looking for bass and guitar players. Feel free to bring your lunch to the music room, it will be worth it just to hear what a song called Watermelon Man sounds like.
7. This year’s Terry Fox Colour Run will take place on Friday, September 18th, last period. To participate you must purchase a Colour Run shirt for $15 in the main foyer at lunch, starting today. Proceeds from the shirt sales will be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation.
8. Music Clubs – Concert Band will begin rehearsals on Wednesday after school from 2:30 to 4 pm. All grades are invited. We will be preparing for the Forest Fall Fair. Jazz Band normally runs on Tuesday’s at lunch – for this week we will meet on Thursday to look at the music for the year.
9. Rugby 7’s! Rugby 7’s! Men & Women’s Tryouts will start outside next Tuesday & Thursday. Please see Mr. Needham in room 308 to sign up.
10. LEAD (Learn, Evolve & Accept Diversity) will begin meeting next week! LEAD is a safe and welcoming space for 2SLGBTQIA+ students and allies. Come connect, find support, and stand together.
11. Junior and Senior Girls’ Basketball Tryouts – Tryouts for both teams will begin tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday after school this week. They will begin at 2:30 and run until 4:00. Signup sheets are posted outside the girls change room, please add your name. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Sanders or Mr. Willemse.
12. Junior and Senior Boys’ Volleyball Tryouts – Tryouts for both teams will begin on Monday, September 14th at lunch, and continue Tuesday, September 15th after school from 2:30-4:00 and Wednesday, September 16th at lunch. If you are interested in trying out for the team sign up on the sheet outside the boys’ phys ed office. If you have any questions, see Mr. Eberlin or Mrs. Cundick.
13. Boys’ Baseball Tryouts – Tryouts for the baseball team will take place on Monday, September 14th, Wednesday, September 16th and Thursday, September 17th after school from 3:00-4:00 at the baseball diamond across town. If you are interested in trying out for the team sign up on the sheet outside the boys’ phys ed office. If you have any questions, see Mr. Eberlin or Mr. Medd.
14. Golf Team Information Meeting – Mr. Baird will be holding a meeting at the beginning of lunch today in Room 185 (in the Science hall) to talk about how tryouts will occur this year for the golf team. If you are interested in trying out for the team, sign up on the sheet in room 185. If you miss the meeting, feel free to come ask Mr. Baird any questions.
