1. The 1st NLSS Chess tournament is underway. We will meet Thursday May 7th. (Mr. Singh)
2. National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit Persons
3. Girls rugby will practice May 5th after school in preparation for our game against Northern (Wed. May 6th @ 3 pm)
4. NLSS Jr. Boys Rugby Team Update
Practice resumes today (Tuesday, May 5th) at 2:30 pm. We will be preparing for our game at St. Joseph’s (in St. Thomas) on Wednesday May 6th. A reminder to players and support staff that our bus will be leaving for St. Thomas at 2:30 pm tomorrow in front of the school.

5. Boys soccer today after school. Make sure to let one of the coaches know if you cannot make it. (Mr. Vandenberg)
6. Law Advocacy Competition Announcement – This past Friday, three NLSS law students, Evan V, Jayla T and Max C competed in a law advocacy competition that saw them produce both crown arguments and defence points of view regarding a mock police file. Our students courageously presented their cases at Sarnia Courthouse in front of Superior Court Judges and Lawyers. All three of our students were excellent in their preparation and detail. Evan V was recognized as having the most persuasive arguments out of all thirty competitors. Right on Guys!! (Mr. Needham)
7. Awesome Eagles Day is right around the corner! There will be a brief meeting at the start of lunch on Monday, May 4th in room 216. If you received an email about helping to lead this event please attend or talk to Mr. Wilson or Mrs. Doornbosch if you are unable to make it.
8. Girls softball team excused today at 1:30 for their game in Sarnia – jerseys will be handed out at the field.
9. After the May long weekend we will be having a Super Smash Bros tournament in the library. There are prizes to be won for the top 3 players. Staff and students are encouraged to participate. Sign up now!
10. Volunteer Opportunity – We are currently looking for volunteers to help build skateboarding obstacles for our summer camps (all genders inclusive). We are looking for STEM-interested, woodshop, and art students to volunteer 1 day a week after school starting in May (at the Grand Bend Art Centre/Skatepark behind the Legion). See Student Services for more information.
11. Yearbook Sale! It’s now been a week since the 2025/2026 Trending through the Decades Yearbook has been available to be pre-ordered on School Cash Online for $45. Make sure to pre-order this awesome yearbook that the Yearbook class has proudly been working on throughout the semester before it’s gone forever! Worry that you won’t like the way the yearbook looks, don’t worry, you can catch sneak peeks of the yearbook in the halls and on our social medica, so make sure to keep an eye out for those sneak peeks, and you might also catch a glimpse of our mascot, Hampton the Eagle, doing crazy awesome things to advertise this yearbook. If you regret not getting the 2024/2025 yearbook, you’re in luck, as we have 9 copies left which can also be purchased on School cash Online for $45.
12. The Kineto Youth Film Contest will be due May 15th, get started on your entry now! If you are interested in using film equipment or editing software, please speak to Mr. Needham or Miss Syer.
Attention all SHSM Agriculture and Manufacturing students who are attending tomorrow's field trip to Dairy Lane Systems and Donkers Farm. Please wear your protective footwear. If someone you know is going on the trip but isn't here today, please let them know.
